slp, Obviously, for selfish reasons, that wouldn't be my first choice. However, if that is what it would take to pacify the majority, then my kids and I would accept that. It would only seem fair that they would let this year's 6th graders, regardless if they are from WE or Welch, finish out ms at Scullen and not have to switch in 8th - that would make it more palatable. All of my kid's new friends that have been made in ms are from WE. She will be sad not to go to hs with them. My other kid is much younger - I'm not even worrying about where he's going to ms. It will probably change by then:) Welcome southerngal. I don't believe this year's 6th graders will finish out at the MS they are at. I believe the district stated that all boundaries would be in effect for 2009. My daughter is in 7th and was upset about her friends from Gombert and Owen going to another school. I reminded her that those friends she is close with, she already sees outside of school. All I can do is make the best of this. She seems to be embracing the change rather well, lets just hope I can do as well as her.

In my previous posts I have stated that the sb should grandfather these kids to finish out their 8th grade year. Whether those are Welch kids or WE kids I feel the same way; let 8th graders finish out at their current MS.

His only concern over this whole thing is that he can remain with his friends from White Eagle in middle school. I had him send his thoughts to the board via the survey monkey as I thought they were very worthy.

slp, I wouldn't be too worried - I have little hope of a 2009 opening, even though we just spent millions to do so and selected the site based on that goal. It's probably the 5th graders that need to be worried IMO.

Hey Moderator -- Shouldn't this thread get closed and a new one started so we don't loose any of the valuable messages?

It's probably the 5th graders that need to be worried IMO. Yet they are going to spend millions and millions to try and make it happen - if it doesn't open ( even as a shell of a school ) - that money is wasted. Parents of 8th graders have to wonder if their kids will be staying at one school or not --
