I'm showing my ignorance of politics here: if this is true and violations are found, what are the possible outcomes/penalties?

Hmmm.... Rupert Borgsmiller, where do I know that name from? Oh yeah, now I remember...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INDIAN PRAIRIE PROPOSALS' OPPONENTS FACING SCRUTINY Chicago Tribune February 22, 2001 Author: Tracy Dell'Angela, Tribune Staff Writer. A recent marketing blitz by a group opposing the Indian Prairie school referendum proposals has led to complaints that the organization is violating state election laws by not filing campaign disclosure forms.
WE CARE 2 was contacted this week by state election officials, responding to a flurry of complaints from people arguing that the group had spent more than $3,000, the minimum that requires any political organization to file public documents itemizing their contributors and expenses.
The organization has distributed at least 10,000 leaflets against the referendum proposals to district homes and also has sponsored yard signs and newspaper advertising.
Rupert Borgsmiller, director of campaign disclosure for the State Board of Elections, said that he contacted one of the leaders of WE CARE 2, Ari Rosenthal, to notify him of the filing requirements.
"[Rosenthal] told me they are very aware of the reporting responsibilities and have every intention of complying with the law," Borgsmiller said. "I fully anticipate they will be filing something."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wonder if the second chat is not as pleasant?

Hopefully Borgsmiller has some weight and a memory. Rosenthal should not be able do get away with this multiple times (if the allegations bear true). I wonder if his membership with the bar is at risk?

Ari is not CEO or CFO of CFO. Katherine Nguyen is. I am guessing she is the one that will have to face the claim.

From what has been put here, Ari has never officially been a part of CFO. I think he is too smart for that. Politically the guy is really good.

I hope he at least has the decency to give her note cards to read during the hearing.

I wonder if where the original post says "A hearing is scheduled at 1 pm Thursday in the Chicago Office for Citizens For Options" it instead means "the Chicago Avenue Office for Citizens For Options" Ari Rosenthal's law firm office is on Chicago Avenue (Thompson, Rosenthal & Watts, LLP, 1001 E. Chicago Avenue, Suite 111, Naperville, IL) and I was not aware that CFO had a downtown Chicago office. If the office is used, I'm sure they'll report it as an in-kind donation at their firm's standard rates

I just put something together in my head. The Daily Herald "broke" the news story about the overcollections in 203. Rosenthal's "Will Dupage Taxpayers Taxpayers Alliance" is after 203 and 204. The DH publishes every single bs story CFO feeds them. Does anyone else see a pattern?
