I want bond premiums banned. Need a state law. Totally agree - they are the work of scumbags.

It's just I don't see how the board is going to solve everyone's problems when everyone's problems are so different. Fix their distance, fix their gap, fix their split.....not seeing this as possible. An Owen<->McCarty swap fixes distance, gap, and 2 splits. and makes MV the lowest performing school -- to go along with a physical nightmare- and a commute nightmare great the hat trick --

Geez, NV the place everyone wants to be and WE wants to make space for us. Thanks guys. Please don't shoot the messenger - and don't judge the whole area by just a few. We are not shooting the messenger...but you stated ~60%...that's more than a "few".......Some bad memories are starting to resurface......

Keep in mind that the poll on this site wasn't exactly fair. Bus around or ignore achievement gap? Not exactly an "either or" situation. But you're right that it suddenly becomes a factor when your kids are the ones going to the lower performing schools. If WE is that concerned - maybe they'd consider swapping their commute for ours - and they could go to MV and not be in the lowest performing school - and we'd gladly replace them at WVHS - it works to everyone's advantage ISAT score wise. I'd make that deal in a second if I wasn't worried about my kids growing a third eyeball. No thanks - the erector set is all yours.

Geez, NV the place everyone wants to be and WE wants to make space for us. Thanks guys. I don't think that's true at all. Owen, Watts, and Cowlishaw would be THRILLED to stay at WV. Just because certain board members are trying to paint WV as "the school no one wants" to fit their agenda doesn't make it true. Wasn't talking about those schools. So many schools are expressing a desire to STAY at NV, I thought it odd that somebody would try and find us space and kick another school out. And ED, getting harder and harder not to judge the area by the actions of the few but as usual, I won't. I have quite a few friends from WE who are not ignorant snobs.

Sorry but that is just bad information. I'm an RE agent. Right now there are 37 active properties in the Fry attendance area. Of those, 4 are under contract - 1 just went under contract after being on the market for 1 day!!! Only 2 properties have ever been anything but active, 1 went Back on the Market after it's listing agreement expired - it was never under contract. 1 other re-activated on January 16 - that's long before any of this boundary mess came to light. I am a credible source - I just accessed this from the MLS. That type of misinformation is doing nothing to help anyone. If anything I would be more concerned about the way my community was acting having an influence on my property values. I hate to say this but when I was at lunch the other day, I heard a woman say she would never move to Tall Grass because they are "acting like snobs in this whole boundary thing. Who would want to live next to people like that?" I know you guys are saying that it is not the WV thing. But to a lot of people, that's the way it looks. I know you guys are great folks and concerned about your kids but you know how people are quick to judge. I would hate to see your community hurt more than it already is.

If anything I would be more concerned about the way my community was acting having an influence on my property values. This is all the school board's fault! They have put us in this position!! D203 could have solved their Mill Street Elementary problems by shuffling boundaries. Superintendent Leis had a meeting with Will-O-Way about moving them away from Mill Street. The parents FREAKED out. He actually LISTENED to them and guess what - instead of solving the Mill St overcrowding for FREE they added $11M to their referendum to expand it in order to save that subdivision a CRAPPY commute. I didn't see any namecalling or crappy nicknames for Will-o-way. Because they were HEARD. That $11M will probably be paid back in a few years in bus savings. BUT here we are in D204 - our concerns are ignored and we are told to SHUT UP OR get a CRAPPY NICKNAME and have board members imply nasty stuff about them. HUH?

I was also at the meeting. I did get the impression at the end of the meeting, after discussion, most believed we would be going to WV and most thought we could make it our great school. Although a lot of whiny things came up, at the end, I had a better feeling. What did surprise me though, is just how uniformed many people are. I can't speak for the entire neighborhood, but I do think WE digested the idea that we are geographically logical to move out of NV. Our voting numbers for the referendum proved that.

^ I agree with fence. I see future trouble for 204. I know of five contracts in the Fry attendance area that fell through in the last two weeks. 204 is in a world of hurt right now. Just my opinion, please don't blame my entire subdivision for my comments. I'm curious, did those 5 contracts fall through specifically because of the boundaries? Or, can it also be because of the crummy housing market today? Okay I'm going to try this again! I'm a real estate agent and that is just bad information. According to the MLS (which I just checked) there are 37 active listings in the Fry attendance area. 4 of those are under contract including one which just sold in 1 day! There is only 1 contract that was sold and then reactivated and that happenen back on January 16 - long before the boundaries were announced. Passing on this type of mis-information is doing nothing to help the cause.
