I think Mark is just upset because critics said the land had contamination while everyone said it was safe and the reports validated there are unacceptable levels of contamination.
Now the process moves on to how much it will cost, how much remediation will happen and in what ways and what future issues those choices will create/mitigate.
As that starts to nebulize I beleive we will read/hear more language like this because this is not a quick nor inexpensive endeavor.
Then, we move onto site safety and security when they finish hashing this stuff out. If they want to save some time and money they would tackle that now because it would make the above remediation steps unnecessary, IMO.

If I had to put this whole thing into one short movie clip it would go like this:
Kids are playing in the street... An old lady calls out to them from her porch saying to get their dumb-a$$es out of the roadway before they get smacked by a car. As they all turn towards her and start calling her a nincompoop a truck starts barreling down the road towards them from behind. They are too engrossed in ridiculing her to hear or even see it coming and end up getting flattened.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like I'm living in some sort of Twilight Zone. We have 3 unresolved lawsuits but the district and SB seem hellbent on moving forward anyway (would they do that if it was their own money?). All indications are that the Eola property is quite possibly contaminated. And now we have the SB president and the Super making ridiculous comments in the press ("fence the baby off" and "nincompoop"?!) That's just in the last 2 days - what will tomorrow yield? And let's not forget about BG smarting off to the guy in the hazmat suit on his way into the meeting Monday. When are these people going to start acting like professionals? WTF? Regardless of what side of this everyone is on, how can anyone feel good about the leadership of our district? - yes it's our district. These people are not only responsible for our childrens' education but they are the stewards of our tax dollars. I have had enough. We need some sort of vote of no confidence. They all should go and the sooner the better.

The front page of today's Sun could pass for the National Enquirer. I think Tim forgot which paper he works for. Sensational reporting at it's best; he is clearly buds with Shaun and N-fud. Note: Not ONE word in the DH. I don't know -- with a comment like nincompoop - maybe it should be a comic book, or 3 Stooges Quarterly. Went to Black's Law Dictionary to look up the non legalese of nincompoop -- nada law.com returned nothing.... so when Britt is printing everything she's given that's good journalism, but when another reporter prints something else it's bad journalism...got it... I don't think I need to look up nincompoop any more. the blind loyalty is staggering

Note: An ENTIRE ARTICLE in the Chicago Tribune, the oldest and most repected paper in the Chicago area. Should Alexa be expecting to be put on the N-Fraud site as a "clearly buds with Shaun and NSFOC."? Exactly - although it didn't contain any reporting on the recent BB suit. And thank God they didn't quote M2. Or all of Chicagoland would be laughing at us. At least it's limited to the western suburbs. I disagree -- Springfield is rolling on the floor also....

What a proud proud day for all of us in D204.
Desperate is as desperate does, I guess.
Wonder how much the (justified) Collins libel suit will cost us?

Let's recap:
Collins handed Lockformer their butts on a silver platter over TCE in the groundwater.
TCE was used at the peaker plant.
Someone said (I am still trying to verify) that they did not test for TCE in the groundwater at Eola but a short list of other chemicals.
M2 calls Collins a 'nincampoop'.
So, we have an experienced lawyer in environmental matters who has a very large win under his belt on one side and a name caller on the other.
Guess how this will turn out.

Well in any other place I would say Collins would win, but the SB has many many choices I NEVER thought would happend. Like I said, I want off this runaway train. This is the twilight zone, but we can't turn it off...

Note: Not ONE word in the DH. The DH did a nice job yesterday. I thought they were actually more informative regarding the spill volume than the Sun. Also the DH mentioned Mr. Hazmat yesterday but The Sun didn't. Like it or not, this unmitigated disaster is newsworthy. The DH also covered the additional Brodie lawsuit yesterday.

" "In my opinion, these two serious environmental problems disqualify the Eola-Molitor property as a safe site for a school," Collins said."
Yes, in his paid opinion as attorney representing a group trying to get the site moved.

"Missing reports? Collins also said he is troubled by the exclusion of seven additional environmental reports from Monday's presentation. The reports are generated by Midwest Generation, which owns the 37-acre parcel in the northeast corner of the school site where the peaker plant was located. They were shown to the district, but, due to the confidentiality agreement that kept the study results from being released, they were are not available to residents, Collins said. Documents that were released confirm that between 1993 and 2002 more than 12,000 gallons of chemicals were spilled on the 15.5-acre site where a peaker plant operated from 1969 to 2004. In the 1970s and '80s no environmental regulations were enforced, Collins said. "
What exactly does this mean? Arch, you would probably be the best to answer this question. Is he talking about spills you have documentation on that you showed the board from MWGEN filings? Or is he talking about the Phase II report? Or both?
