I'm not sure, but is the Harvard Principal's Academy something you have to apply for or write a check for? Okay this is fuzzy if they attended a week long institiues or what. Quote from the Havard web site "It is not necessary to be a member of The Principals' Center to attend one of our institutes." www.gse.harvard.edu/ppe/principals/index.htmlThe cost is between about $1600-3000 for one of their institutes(about a week long) at Havard. I'm guess this is what they did, but who knows...

I am also concerned as Anteater states, she is "retiring" from her post at the old high school. One would think that we should put an individual in this position that would be there for some time and possibly advance within the District, not show up for a couple of years and skate. How about some new blood that is really new blood and will take a stake and vested interest in our community ?? Wonder who the next Super will be ?

My sister could retire from teaching next year and she is in her late 40's. Hopefully this newcomer will be vested in our community...

You're definitely right, but it all depends on how many years one needs to become vested in Illinois. So, I guess it depends on how many years she had previously in Illinois, though she will probably need at least 3 years to have the higher salary significantly impact her pension. Not sure what her age is, but she does talk about grandchildren in the area. It's also interesting that teachers often retire early, but they seldom move to another state to take another teaching job. This definitely seems like a much more popular move for administrators. Also, while I also ahve trouble finding the school assignments for the board members, I do know that in previous years the high school assignment generally followed the elementary school assignments. The one exception was that one of the board members is assigned to Indian Plains, the alternative high school, rather than NV or WV.

Let's hope that the new principal is a very strong leader. She'll need to be if she has to report to the Dash.
Is anyone surprised that they hired a principal from out of state? Let's face it, in today's 204 climate I'd think you'd be hard-pressed to find a strong candidate willing to take on the daunting task of dealing with DD.
I wish her good luck and hope that she's not coming in with blinders on. I hope she has a good heads-up of what she's facing. It won't be easy.

A Google search showed two specific items related to her leadership of the high school in Arizona. First, there were allegations that she censored the school paper. It doesn't look like there was anything to it, but maybe 203 will want to steal her anyway! Second, she instituted a policy of charging students for extra ketchup packets in the cafeteria.

I know, I looked that up too. I got a pick kick out of the ketchup packet charge. Maybe we can insitute something like that in 204 to help fund litigation charges ;D!

She'll fit right into the NEW WAUBONSIE! The following repsonse is satire... Not to be confused with reality.. Oh, no.. Not the New Waubonsie.. We the entitled will have none of that penny pinching. I have already been checking out some WOLF Bunsen burners. You can smelt and simmer Also, there are some great Sub Zero Combination lockers + beverage coolers I think will be really practical. Also, I can't decide if we will go with Gold Leaf and Jade or Gold Leaf and Marble for the Green and Gold treatments through out the school. Oh, decisions decision...
