Arch hope your right, but will the SB learn anything? The decision makers continue to believe their mistakes are merely a series of unfortunate events that they have no control over, or at least that is what they claim in public. So I for one believe they will continue to make the same mistakes over and over until they own up to the fact that THEY are the ones making the mistakes. Okay, I can't get the image here, but I can give you the website for today's Brewster Rockit Spaceguy. I'm sure you will appreciate the humor. ;D Just picture M2 in place of Brewster. news.yahoo.com/comics/brewsterrockit

IMO, I'm guessing many of the SB members were given info on the spot, so they couldn't make informed decisions. Given half facts or opinions; not straight up facts. But if this is true, they should have also stated this information to the public. At least CV told of the no appraisal.
I really study information before I come to my opinion on anything that matters. I never see anything as black and white, everything is gray. But having said that doesn't make the gray right in everything/anything. One has to measure which the best overall outcome-this isn't what the SB has done. I am on the fence of we need the high school, that has change from before. What I feel passionately is that before we bought new land at from the AME site we should have found out what we owed for the BB site or build there (at BB). The new site is so wrong; the SB/SD should have NEVER bought it. That was irresponsible to buy at this new site, before we found out what our cost is. I would hate to see how these SB members balance their personal checkbooks with the mess they have made with OUR TAXDOLLARS.
Where I lived before I was the president of my neighborhood community. There were only 100 houses there with a community pool. If I wanted to do anything with our neighborhood tax money, we had to have open board meeting and a public vote after; hence a form a checks and balances. This was a small amount of taxpayers’ money but it was taxpayers’ money. I had no right to do what I wanted without the vote from the board and the neighborhood. That is how it should be with taxpayer's money.

I had a line of co-workers lining up to take the guy out.

Wonder if the Dash had any idea of the fun he'd encounter in IPSD 204? If I remember correctly, he stated something along the lines of he was led to believe that the land for the 3rd HS was a done deal. Hey, wait, that's what we were led to believe, too! . Wonder if things worked like this in Kentucky?

This scares me more that EMF "safety," railroad crossings, and exploding pipelines. Kids will walk on the tracks and they will climb power towers. Boy, 14, struck and killed by train in Hoffman Estates Stretch of track is part of controversial Canadian National Railway bid By Tina Shah | Tribune reporter 9:52 PM CDT, April 27, 2008 www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-train-death-both-28-apr28,0,3452911.story A teenager was struck and killed by a train Sunday afternoon in Hoffman Estates, apparently as he crossed the railroad tracks, police said. The 14-year-old boy was walking when he was hit at about 12:50 p.m. by a Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co. train about 500 feet north of Columbine Boulevard near Pratum Avenue. Police believe he was walking alone, and it does not appear as though he was pushed onto the tracks, said Hoffman Estates Police Lt. Rich Russo. The train conductor saw the boy after he was hit and called police. Fire and police officials responded, and the boy, who was found between the tracks, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner's office was notified Sunday afternoon but would not release the name of the boy, pending family notification. "Certainly it's a tragedy and my heart goes out to the family," said Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod. "We really need to know what happened here before making any judgments." EJ&E made recent headlines with the Canadian National Railway seeking federal approval of its $300 million purchase of the company's 198-mile arc of tracks around Chicago. The controversial purchase would mean possibly quadrupling the number of trains running on the tracks. Last week suburbs, including Aurora, Naperville and Plainfield, joined a coalition called The Regional Answer to Canadian National and chipped in $10,000 to $20,000 to fight the purchase. The proposed increase in train frequency has also brought safety at railroad crossings in the spotlight. The train tracks at the crossing near Columbine and Pratum do not have a gate or any other protection measure, McLeod said. But without knowing the details of the teenager's death, it's difficult to say whether having a gate at the intersection would have prevented the incident, he added. "We have always had a grave concern for any trains going on any tracks," McLeod said. "We are more concerned with crossings."

That is very concerning as well, jimbob.
Parking will be a problem at MV just like at WV and NV and kids will be parking across the tracks and cutting the fence (like at North).

Everytime I cross railroad tracks my heart races, guess that's still from when I was little...I hate them. When I first moved here I remember reading about a biker who got hit by a train, & died. The guardrails didn't work!! In court they were saying she went around them, but eyewitnesses said they never came down! Her family won; not much of a win without the woman. There was a 2nd case very much the same.

We wish to extend our sincerest thanks for spending time with us Thursday evening, April 24. We understand and appreciate how busy you are - we also know how important this issue is to you. It is our hope that you were able to get your questions answered and to understand why it is so important that we continue to move on. This school board has taken your $124.7 million and walked away with it - nullified your vote for the 2006 referendum - played games with your concerns and your children's education - violated your trust - and then ignored you when you asked them to please stop or to at least slow down and consider what they have done. We know many of you are struggling with this, we are too. For the group of us who are leading this charge - we promise you, sincerely, we will not stop. No matter how tired, how busy, how frustrated we get, we will continue to fight for safety of all children of IPSD204, demand fiscal responsibility by the school board and hold them accountable for their actions. Thank you for your time, your generous contributions, and your continued emotional support...we are forever grateful." If you were unable to attend meeting on the 24th, the next NSFOC meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29th at the White Eagle Owners Club at 6:30. For more details, go to www.nsfoc.com. Sincerely, NSFOC
