What equipment was it? I'll try to look up the GVW and the limits on the pipes/easements.[/quote]
Here you go Arch this will keep you busy for awhile. From what I saw driving by over the weekend,
5 or 6 Terex TS14 scrapers, 1 Cat D8R, 2 Cat 815 compactors, and 2 John Deere farm tractors with pull behind scraper pans. I will update next time I go by the site.
The JD tractors with the pull scrapers are what will be used over the pipelines, as they are very light and have minimal ground compaction. These are no way near as productive as the big scrapers, but for special cases, such as pipeline easements they do a good job.

As a side note I took the advice of momind204 and drove by the site on Friday. I saw a piece of heavy equipment traversing the property east to west but did not see any sign of a Kinder-Morgan representative. What do Kinder Morgan representatives look like? Do they have like a neon sign over their head or something? ;D I also drove by on Friday, and all I saw were a whole bunch of men with the standard white hard hats and dayglo vests. Couldn'r really tell which company they were from.

Or, at least the red lightning bolt on a visible body part . ETA: That would be standard "dress code" standard for Kinder Morgan associates.

Arch, I'm not sure of what the weight limit is on the easement, I just know that pipeline companies are very specific to what type of equipment can be used on them, for obvious reasons.

Are you sure you want to call JULIE?? They have a tendency to mis- mark or totally miss a utility line on occasion. Actually, JULIE wouldn't touch the job of marking transmission lines like those, instead the pipeline company would do it, as it is their investment and they do know the exact location, whereas JULIE uses what amounts to an over glorified metal detector. Personally, I would feel much better if JULIE stuck to locating the small stuff out in front of the project. If they miss, it isn't going to be a catastrophe, just an annoyance.

Sorry, I should rephrase: When I drove by there was a piece of large equipement traversing the property East to West and I didn't see anyone else on site. No people out at all. Maybe the KM rep was driving the equipment? I guess it's possible....

Or it is possible that there is no work going on in the pipeline easement as of yet so there is no need for a baby sitter.

That is true Arch, but if it was a machine just traversing the site, and not working then it isn't an issue. 204mom already stated that it wasn't one of the TS14's, and I don;t recall seeing anything red. It might have been Homer's tree feller machine, or a dozer, in any case track machines have good flotation, much better than the rubber tire scrapers. Until they actually start working the soil in the easement there is little need for concern, and then I am sure KM will be there watching.

Everyone's in the hot seat to make sure the T's are crossed and the I's dotted on this one. All it takes is one 'woops' that can start a process that goes undetected for years then one day it smacks everyone in the face.

There is a photograph in the NaperSun today on P. 3 "Metea Valley work begins" Equipment Operators for Read Excavating Co Inc. perform mass grading and eath work Friday at the 84-acre site for the proposed Metea Valley High School in Aurora. Danielle Gardner / Staff Photographer The photograph is taken from the North, I believe, with the Cambridge Chase homes in the background, and the equipment headed in an E/W direction. The equipment is a tractor pulling 2 graders, I believe. Anyhow, hopefully the contruction coordinator or Read Excavating carry insurance if any of the basements in Cambridge Chase flooded after the mass grading on Friday.

As a side note, what the heck, was there no groundbreaking ceremony? If so, isn't that kind of pathetic? To echo Chris Vickers comments, this is supposed to be a happy time in our district and it has turned so very ugly.
