If they don't have a groundbreaking ceremony, I respect the wisdom of not pouring salt into the wounds of so many people who are unhappy about Eola. However, they just may be holding off until a later date to start the celebration (May 23rd?).

That a groundbreaking ceremony for a new $150 M high school would be considered "pouring salt into the wounds" of the parents in our district.

If it was allowed - there would be those with pictures taken aboard bull dozers pointing south and flipping us the bird...

Everyone's in the hot seat to make sure the T's are crossed and the I's dotted on this one. All it takes is one 'woops' that can start a process that goes undetected for years then one day it smacks everyone in the face. Update on the pipeline crossing: I talked to a friend that has been working on the site and he stated that 4 feet of clay, 20 feet wide has been placed over the pipeline easement to protect from compaction due to equipment crossing. He also stated that at the site safety meetings, it is explained in no uncertain terms that is the only area that anyone is allowed to cross, period, no exceptions. The pipeline area is also staked and taped off to remind everyone it is off limits.

I heard that a few folks called concerned about the flooding and they were told to sit down and shut up. Dr. Daeschner was quoted as saying that he could not believe the entitlement demonstrated by this neighborhood in believing that they should have basements free from flooding..."I mean, Goodnight". The City proposed building a retention wall and a drainage system, but the District's site drawings showed that they now plan on building a big fence around the Cambridge Chase neighborhood. Reporting on the damage, Curt Bradshaw said that he "had never seen anything like it", but he later admitted that he had not actually visited the site. After being asked about the damage, Ms. Tyle explained that the District "did not have time" to construct a drainage system. In addition, she reported that such flooding was normal in that the EOLA purchase"was a cash sale". The leaders of the AMES church responded to the scene quickly, offering to sacrifice towels for the good of the children of Cambridge Chase for only $500 each. Dr. Daeschner quickly rushed the leaders behind closed doors and settled on $600 per towel. LOL!! ;D It definetly was a needed laugh in all this mess.....Keep up the humor.

As a side note I took the advice of momind204 and drove by the site on Friday. I saw a piece of heavy equipment traversing the property east to west but did not see any sign of a Kinder-Morgan representative. you'll be lucky if Bob the Builder oversees this Maybe they can contact Handy Mandy to help build the school. Probably smarter.
