Dr. D should of NEVER made that comment. I am sure there were many nasty emails from both sides. I am sure he heard from the entitled vote no Brookdale folks, how they deserve a new HS because somehow they are the only subdivision that paid for NV. IMO, this slam was directed at TG, so many could join the TG slamming. So it was easier to justify moving TG from its closest HS that they could walk to. Yes, about the same percentage as Mccarty and Steck will be able to walk to WV. TG is the only walking subdivision moved from it's school. I never saw proof of these emails and these comments were made by BG at the site selection meeting. All made up in my mind. I know way to many awesome people in here and they know how to conduct themselves. ETA: modified post for typos. You know TG and WE have my sympathy moving for having to move from a close school. However, Steck and McCarty are both closer to WV than TG or WE is to NV. The SD may send busses, but the closest homes in Oakhurst are about 50 yds max from WV property. Even the furthest home in the bussed area from Steck (except for perhaps the new to Steck, Legacy Fields area) could easily walk. Having the bus route data and populations that show actual number of walkers and those eligible for bus service (that we get money for) would be a big help. Request for this data, unfortunately, went unanswered.

If it doesn't paint them as the victims of entitled, elitest, racists, then they don't release it. Go figure. Has anyone been by the bridge? They were supposed to have lane closures on rt 59 last night. Is it up? BTW - FWIW- the front door of my home to the front door of NV Gold campus is half a mile and I am not even the closest. Add to that all of the homes and townhomes surrounding the pedestrian bridge area and the # of walkers soar. But oh well. The City of Naperville, the NPD, and the State of Illinois think it qualifies as a walk route but our real estate expert SB members know better. No big deal. Gas is cheap. Money for transportation isn't an issue right?

To treat people with courtesy and respect would NOT be A$$ kissing. He failed miserably in doing so. Quite frankly, I believe they made up or magnified any correspondence they received to suit their agenda. Even if they did receive some emails that were not appropriate, they in no way would have represented a majority of people nor should they have been utilized to make any decisions about an area. In addition, I'm sure there were other obnoxious and rude emails from other sections of the district. Decisions regarding the location of the third high school as well as the boundaries should not have been based on emotion. They needed a reason to pull TG (who can walk to NVHS) out. So IMO, they labled the whole area. I point the finger directly at MM, BG, and Dr. D. The whole charade was transparent. As I read your posts, they come off as more of the "sit down and shut up" message that we keep hearing. Maybe that's not your intention. first of all .....I have heard a lot of conspiracy theories here and other places, and none of them hold any water IMO. But you sometimes hear what you want to hear, and when things don't go in one's favor, it just adds to it. secondly, please don't read more into my posts. take them for face value. I try to post my opinions exactly.....nothing makes me more crazy than posting a comment and the getting a reply like "so you are saying.....etc"
First of all, if your area had been treated as our's was, you would probably feel differently. But I guess "things went in your favor" as you say. Secondly, this is no conspiracy theory. We never saw the proof of any such emails they referred to. Even if they exist, so what? This is America and people are "entitled" pursuant to the first amendment to say what they want. We may disagree with their words, but to use something someone said to set an agenda for the district would be wrong. I'm sure they received some equally offensive emails from other areas - but we didn't hear about those. To make blanket statements clearly upset large numbers of people. They will continue to be upset until someone apologizes. And I am taking your posts at face value. It seems clear to me that you feel we're just supposed to "take it". Well, I won't. This district will lose some good families and good kids because of they way we have been treated.

An apology, or at the very least some sort of acknowledgement, is loooooooooooooooooong overdue. However, I don't expect to see it any time soon. My Mom had an expression "Don't hold your hand on your a**, it will grow there". ;D Gotta' love our Southside Ma's! ETA: The bridge "memo" written by Karla Zozulia was COMPLETELY false. Whatever happened to at least making the employees accountable? That DEFINITELY needs an apology and disciplinary action should have been taken on ALL individuals responsible for publishing that fabrication district wide.

I also agree it will not hold up financially or to the 5A comments by BG. If we are wrong, prove it and release the data for scrutiny - just looking at 4 entire areas going to the furthest HS likely answers all the questions we need to know.

The SB members are Supposed to represent the entire district. Not label and treat differently some sections because of their agenda or their own personal issues or whatever. And maybe I'm wrong, but it sure seems that you are on here to preach to the rest of us how we should feel. Again, maybe that's not your intention. If it is, realize that it wasn't just a few who were insulted by Dr. D. People coming on message boards and telling us it doesn't matter doesn't change the way we feel.

People in positions of authority over are supposed to check their personal feelings at the door. Not one member's area 'took one for the team'. JS got out of going to MV and now go to the 2nd closest HS instead of the 3rd (honestly, good for them.. but it was a 'tweak' at the meeting and it was his home area and many people had advanced notice of this to begin with). AT stays at NV. BG goes to 2nd closest HS, not 3rd (but even WV is 1st closest depending on which part of WE you live in). CB, JC, M2, CV all go to their closest HS.
There's a saying about eating one's own dogfood. It shows that you're willing to do that which you ask others to do. By that leadership quality, no other area should have to go to the farthest HS and this was the basis our boundary proposal put forth as the hard and absolute rule not to break. No one is then asked to endure more than a board members own area is.
It's the opinion of many that is considered 'fair to all'.

This delay is being caused by a combination of interstate road construction and road closures due to recent severe weather in Nebraska. The placement of the center of the bridge, and the associated lane reduction and road closures on Route 59, will be delayed until the overnight hours of Monday, June 9. At that time, Route 59 between 95th Street and 103rd Avenue will be closed periodically from 11 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008, to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in order to set the final truss for the pedestrian bridge. There will be lane reductions prior to and after the road closure in order to allow for the connection and staging of the truss for placement. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid delays. Book Road or 248th Street between 95th Street and 103rd Street can be utilized as an alternate route during the closure. The purpose of this project is to improve local and regional pedestrian and bicycle mobility and accessibility in southwestern Naperville by constructing a pedestrian bridge on Route 59, just south of 95th Street. In recent years, there has been a surge of new residential and commercial development in southwestern Naperville. In addition, other activity centers such as the new 95th Street Library, Frontier Park and various schools have attracted new residents to the area. These residents have had difficulty crossing Route 59, due to its high traffic volumes and high vehicular speeds. The bridge crosses Route 59 between 95th Street and 103rd Street. When completed, the pedestrian bridge will connect to Frontier Park on the east and to the Virgil Gilman trail on the west.
