Haven't been on in awhile but had a few minutes while enjoying the summer. Based on what was written in the Sun and what had been posted, and as ones starts to peel the skin back it appears that the underlying motive and reason for most if not all off the unexplainable choices / decisions (boundaries, transportation / bus costs, railroad trax, expedite fees, backdoor negotiations, inflated enrollment, etc.) made by the SB over the last 2-3 years are really centered around one thing. By looking at the 2 identified pawns in this whole scheme it is the Watts & WE/TG communities. Clearly once the SB realized that having both at the same school (BB) would throw the whole D204 out of whack and their wasn't a community as strong as Watts to backfill their vacated school - they panicked and realized what they did.
Preserving parity IMO has been used incorrectly as it is a goal and is impossible to achieve for any company, family, school district, classroom, neighborhood, city, county, state or country - because you cant make people / kids perform to the same level. All you can do is provide an equivalent environment and tools as the rest is up to them.
I think the good Dr. knows this because in 1995, Daeschner’s district claimed five of Kentucky’s 10 lowest-performing schools as measured by ACT scores. A full decade later, his district claimed seven of the 10 lowest-performing schools.
Lastly, there was also some comment made by a WVHS parent doing the "happy dance" ? assuming now the $$ will start to rain down on them (WV - boosters). IMO - thats an assumption that may never play out since there are so many still ticked off.

IMO - thats an assumption that may never play out since there are so many still ticked off. I have a hard time disagreeing with you on any of this- I think if not dead on , you are certainly close on all of it. That 'parent' was the president of the WVHS boosters - and since it was so close to when the boundaries had just been done I definiltely got the inpression that thi shad been talked about in length and he had been at least somewhat part and parcel to these discussions. I had a SB member tell me directly the reason TG/WE was joining WVHS was planned and they needed a different 'mix' and different representation at that school because not everyone viewed WVHS as positively as I did ( and this SB member did). I told them at that time I thought they were wroing with the 'social re-engineering' project they were not embarking on.Schools and neighborhoods are not made by exacts such as $, and each test score. It is a sense of community that they have totally blown up for the MW area - and their 'assumption' that booster dollars will pour in from TG and WE I also agree if faulty as many of the people I know there ( all very active, PTSA presidents, school volunteers etc) are pissed off as you say and are choosing to not put themselves out that much any more. The thanks they got for being the highest Yes voting area along with Watts was to be used as Darwinian pawns. I also know that other parents from Watts who have been active for my almost 20 years here are : moving/ moving their kids to All Saints and Benet/St Francis, and basically saying I am not going to kill myself for this anymore because of the way we have been treated. Just add this to the list of miscalculations that have been made. Now we have the CJ&E issue that most likely will add 40 trains a day or so to the tracks that we decided it was brilliant to put our 3rd HS west of. So we have 2 HS's west of the tracks and 80% of the population east of these tracks. Good luck when this happens traffic wise - and the area between Ogen and Diehl is going to be a mess as people avoid those grade level crossings. The 42 minute bus ride from my area of Watts to MV will move from 42 minutes to 50+ easily - if not more. As school gets ready to start I personally am getting closer to no longer caring much - and if it wasn't for my friends and neighbors ( that includes the TG/WE areas) - and what lies ahead for them, I could look at it as the total screwup it is - and just shake my head. But this does affect us all in the long run.

I just don't see it staying open very long. Then the boundaries will have to change again. Got this email today from TG: Dear Tall Grass Homeowner, Mayor A. George Pradel will kick off a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Route 59 pedestrian bridge at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 on the east side of the bridge, located between 95th and 103rd streets. Put on your walking shoes and come support the new pedestrian bridge. Sincerely, The HOA Board of Directors whipee, now we can get to McD's by walking, wish it was for the Gold campus....I bet the city of Naperville isn't to happy with 204 SB; just like alot of home owners....

I would be very surprised if the dollars flowed as freely as the WV boosters hope. Different economy, different scenario. People are feeling the strain of $4+ gas (and rising) and a lousy housing market. They are much more cautious with their dollars, even if it is for the good of the school and their kids. If that were the case those press boxes could have been built with booster money, IMO.

I pass the bridge daily and have seen many a Mom's and kids making the bike trek to McDonalds! Money well spent!

They were short what - $20k - probably would have been no big deal to raise that a year or two ago.

The Mayor is very good about working the crowd before and after events like this - maybe someone should let him know why people there are upset about the bridge - and how they could have been a lot happier.

The City of Naperville stayed away from this like it was poison and I think Mayor P. will do the same. I've talked with City Council members who didnt want to get involved because it was so politically charged even though they didnt agree with the Boards direction. Not sure who is pulling who's strings here but if you look back no one from the City of Naperville was ever interviewed, quoted - nothing. Look how the SB alienated the Park District. Nice job M2. Since the SB members know they will be voted out becuase of their actions - elected politicians could not afford to do get in the mix because they didnt have any control over the backdoor discussions with AME and the City of Aurora on such a polarizing subject with such long term impact. IMO they realized the SB was a train wreck without a conductor out of control and with laws that allowed them to do so.

You are likely right - they hitched their wagon elsewhere and although I am very aware of the Naperville - Aurora issues over time ( and really disliked the fact those divisions ever existed ) - it seems by apparently shutting out one of these towns from all discussions ( Park district is a perfect example) even though 4 complete ES's from Naperville will attend the new school, and 2+ other areas will move to WVHS....it seems the SB chose to ignore that wedge. There really is no end to some of the divisions that have resulted from this mess. And more likely to come.

I have been thinking about this and I think you are right on ... the wheels started turning when the ES rankings came out and 4 of the top 5 scoring elementaries were assigned to MV (WE, Fry, Watts, Owen). When WV failed NCLB again it probably sealed the deal. ipsd204.proboards76.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=270

It's also obvious that M2's recent comments about the Soccer Press Box are a thank you to Alka and other board members who supported the AME purchase and a big "Sit down and be quiet" to JC telling her she got her new Taj / High School, thanks for the support now go away. She should certainly know what that is.
Board member Jeannette Clark said the board vowed years ago that it would not fund the development of Neuqua's soccer facility, and that building the press box could be construed as going back on its word." Like changing the BB location JC ?? Bait and switch ??
Bradshaw continues to waffle - how weak.
I also think the "preserving" and "parity" are mutually exclusive and can not be accomplished by definition. Better fix the title there Mr. Waldorf

This thinking is utterly incredible. This shows complete lack of district-wide perspective. To be blunt, I think this crazy attitude is very self-centered.

So what do you believe the SB's motivation was?

I did hear a Brookdale resident say that they wanted Watts with them at MVHS because they wanted MV to have a Naperville presence! Now THAT thinking is utterly incredible!
