This reminds me of the damage control spin letter about the MWGEN backout of a land sale... Same spin slant with 'out of context' cherry picked pieces where the whole presents an entirely different truth.... but if you pick out pieces and spin them (by filling in with bullsh!t), you can make it seem like something totally different transpired.....and somehow pat yourself on the back as if you're the Hero too. Sad. Just sad. Or like the communication that came out telling us how open communications was going to improve.... then nothing but crickets after that...

Honestly, I am offended (AGAIN) by this email. It just makes it so obvious that the Admin / SB believe they are dealing with unintelligent parents. Give me a break! We have all read the newspapers and watched the news coverage on this. We KNOW the father of the accused was forced by the inaction of this Admin. / SB to sign that document to protect his son to the best of his LEGAL ability. Seriously . Dr. D. really thinks we all are stupid. Spin all you want to Dr. D.

Dr. D likes to point out that the incident took place outside of school. Fine. Did the misdemeanor assualt the following day occur on school grounds as reported, or did it, too, occur outside of school?
I agree that they are walking a fine line and it's a difficult situation, but their pattern of behavior never changes. Remember the flasher at Nequa -- no mention until a parent went to the press --long after the district knew about it. The result of disclosure, a quick arrest. The advantage of no disclosure -- keep up appearances and risk a more serious incident.
The situation here may be more supportive of the district's approach, but the falsher incident was all on school property and didn't involve a minor and didn't involve Dr. D. Still the board did what they did this time -- nothing until forced by the parents and press.
The evidence is clear. The board has to be changed dramatically.

"Upon notifying staff of the alleged incident on November 13, the victim's parents expressed their desire for the school to not have anything done to the students involved." HuH? ?? I don't believe this statement for one minute. We are all parents here (I think). If this happened to any of our children would we ask that nothing be done? I don't think so!! What a B******* comment to make. I hope he is proud of yet another slam to the victim and his family.

The district has said what their stand is from a legal perspective at the meeting as well as sending out a press release later to answer parent's concerns.

So then you believe they have done all they can do correctly- and the super's knowing in November and it being addressed in February is OK by you ? Also refusing to meet with the parents ? Want to make sure I'm not 'projecting' And why I absolutely agree that parents OWN responsibility for everything with their child- we pay HUGE property taxes for our education school district - there are things they are responsible for also - safety in the classroom would be one of those...so I am not ready to absolve them of any responsibility

I have understood and agreed with some of your posts about respecting the legal processes and systems. I might also be tempted to agree with the statement about SB critics taking advantage of the situation, though the SB, MM and DD seem to be handing them a lot of material on a silver platter. What I can't understand is how the SB apologists in our district could possibly condone making this into a personal attack on the victim's parents - it's a parental issue, the parents tied our hands, they agreed to a court order without involving us, it's all their fault, blah, blah, blah. That is clearly the approach they have settled on and it's reprehensible.

Oddly this song keeps playing over and over in my head when I read Dr. Delusional's Statement. I think this could be the background music for the SB meetings in the made for TV movie about this debacle. www.last.fm/music/Foreigner/_/Cold%2BAs%2BIce%2B%2528Single%2B%252F%2BLP%2BVersion%2529?autostartCold As Ice by Foreigner You're as cold as ice, you're willing to sacrifice our love You never take advice, someday you'll pay the price, I know I've seen it before, it happens all the time You're closing the door, you leave the world behind You're digging for gold, you're throwing away A fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay You're as cold as ice, you're willing to sacrifice our love You want paradise, but someday you'll pay the price, I know I've seen it before, it happens all the time You're closing the door, you leave the world behind You're digging for gold, you're throwing away A fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay (solo) Cold as ice - you know that you are Cold as ice - as cold as ice to me Cold as ice You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, yes I know You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know You're as cold as ice... I realize that I may be just a little too close to this situation knowing the family as I do, but seriously sir, if you are as close to the school board as you seem to be, then you know full well that the parents in this situation were asking for the school to remove the attackers (who admit, by the way, to what they did) from day one. It is not that big a stretch to ask this. As stated before, 203 has a policy in place to remove alleged sexual offenders until trial. I do understand that 204 did not have such policy in place, but sir, do you not agree that we should be quickly getting such a policy now? We now see the ramifications of NOT having this policy. Why wait? And why treat this family so poorly? Why make them feel worse than they already do?

Heartless, old-fashioned school yard bullies. Please tell the family that our hearts go out to them and that the MAJORITY of people in this district can see through this ridiculous and self-serving email.
