Yes, in a Macom scenario this makes sense (it's the Macom site itself that doesn't make sense given our layout and existing high schools), but it seems wrong (to me) to send Brookdale and Longwood to NV though distance-wise may not be much different than WV. Better than to Macom site though! Again I agree this is why BB is the best site. Realistically, though - Longwood to WV = 5.83; to NV = 6.59 Brookdale to WV = 6.27; to NV = 7.03 Under a mile difference for either school and neither one would drive past WV on the way to NV

I just don't think that boundaries are the most important consideration at this point. I'm sure that regardless of whether the school was built north or south, that we could find a workable solution. (maybe not everyone would be happy - but it would be workable).
To me paying $17.5 million more for BB than anticipated is reason to stop and consider other locations. Boundaries could be determined later.

We could save WAY more than 17.5 Million (lol! the number keeps growing with every post) if the school was in Sugar Grove and the boundaries would be perfectly workable for those that didn't have to go there. There is value attached to having a central location, how much value is up for debate.

It like saying Macom land is over $22 million dollars more than what D203 paid for where Central High School is located.

No, it's using the exact same logic from the other side of the coin. It's still a true statement just as the 17.5 million one is true from that very narrowly focused angle of looking at it with word-choice.

There is value attached to having a central location, how much value is up for debate. Since your having trouble with the numbers, let's review: The jury said the 55 acres are worth $28.5 million. In addition, they awarded $2.5 million additional compensation related to the other acerage. That means the SD pays $31 million for BB. Now, follow closely, the SD offered $250K per acre. Multiply that by 55 acres and the SD offer was $13.75 million. The difference is $17,250,000. Hope that helps - maybe too much time spent helping your kid with that "new math".

If that's not what the SB anticipated (and only what they offered), then they lied to us. Plain and simple. That's a pretty strong accusation. From what we've discussed here it seemed reasonable to expect the price would come in somewhere in between. I'm betting even the BB lawyers were surprised by such a high verdict. (sorry this appears to be off topic)

If that's not what the SB anticipated (and only what they offered), then they lied to us. Plain and simple. So, if they offered 257K but (hypothetically) anticipated a jury verdict with a possible high side of 350K, then it's only 11 million more than they anticipated but 17 million more than offered. Feel lied to if you must, but I always interpreted 'with some padding' to mean that they 'anticipated' (but hoped they did not have to) paying more than 257K an acre. Maybe we simply interpret the English language differently. Think of it as making an offer on a house. DO you pay the asking price, or do you offer LOWER but keep to yourself that you are willing to pay higher and sometimes even ANTICIPATE that the seller will lower their asking price but still ask for more than your offer. Are you lying in this financial transaction? No.. it's called negotiating. Slight difference in the verbage and implication.
