Agreed. The only other thing I'll add is if they can get it ready by 09, even less will be pi$$ed.

...If we only have an abundance of 1000 at any given year, why are we building 3009 seats?? This has always been a sticking point for me. Someone else might have caught this already, but you're lying with numbers, Harry. The 3000-student school also frees up a 7th MS. So, with MV, the net "gain" at the HS level is about 2000, and the next gain at the MS level is about 1000. Nice try, though.

imo they will pi$$ off the smallest number of people if they stick to BB and don't ask for more $$ to build the school I probably agree as long as they give Paul Lehman a call too, at least to give it a shot and stop the papers from reporting there was no contact. We have a known willing seller sitting on the right amount of land. You can't ignore that in my book, you have to pursue it just a little.

Back to the issue though - I honestly think, whether one does or does not like the Macom site, that PL and the SB can come to a mutually beneficial solution. Lehman is a businessman and this should be nothing other than a business negotiation. The "it pisses me off that he wants to dictate which school his homes go to" and all that really should have no factor in it. I can promise you Lehman didn't get where he is by being emotionally involved in such decisions. I can only hope whoever is our main negotiator for the SB is equally qualified and they can get in there and get this job done. Sorry to repeat myself, but I'd rather pay more to BB (which mostly goes to charity, right), than give to Lehman any money - he's compounded the WV stereotyping enough. I have no interest in giving him anything that benefits him.

^ see, there's the problem WP, not at all to single you out but this is the view I've been hearing alot. This shouldn't be personal - maybe PL is a saint (!) maybe he's a jerk, it doesn't matter... He is sitting on an available piece of land and (if) as long as the SB and he can come to a mutually beneficial agreement then it means we can have our 3rd high school. Whether or not he benefits, donates his $ to charity, retires to Cuba... none of that matters.

I'd rather pay no one anything for land and get it for free, no strings attached.. but that's unrealistic.
"We need land..."

Agreed - it would be great if the sb could disregard all emotion (and egos!) of district residents but you have to agree that they can't completely ignore the looming '09 ref when making this decision. Unfortunately.

Good post al. But may I still hold a grudge agianst BB? fine with me! I plan on holding a grudge against the SB for the avoidable mess... not like I'll be easily voting yes to anything new they'd like to fund without proper homework...
