WOW dR. You sure have friends on this board IIRC and this is a sensitive topic ..... The 3 WVHS girls were killed in a pre-dawn crash while on their way to Toilet paper their classmates' homes for homecoming...... Wow, Inferring blame on the girls for getting killed by a drunk driver is pretty low

..... The same power lines running past Macom, run behind NVHS. And they run through Ashbury and even closer to Patterson School. But more confusing to me is that there are houses surrounding the power lines all along it. And there are huge power lines running along the AME site. Are people saying they want both sites eliminated because of the power lines? I just want to clarify??? Rew, this got me curious. Also, wvhsparent commented that the STJ/AME power lines are a bit of a distance away from the land. I took a look at mapquest arial photos. By my measuring....it appears that maybe the distance btw NVHS and power lines is about the same as distance btw center of St John site and power lines. Of course, Macom cant really be commented on because lines run through the middle of the site at this time. The hazard issue should be considered and investigated. But one thing is recognize that relatively small change in distance can make big reduction in EMF field, due to (some freshman physics) "inverse square law" (strength ~ 1/d^2) Not sure how much it mitigates hazards....but its a factor.

Without a doubt which is unfortunate for those that voted for the third high school based solely on the boundaries. But they should have done their due diligence ahead of their vote knowing that boundaries were not tied to the question on the ballot. The good news about that for Arch, Dr. W, Gators, etc. is that, if the AME church site is selected, their fears about exposure from the substation for their children will not come to fruition because they will most likely not be in the MV attendance area. Actually, DPC, they are more than likely going to wind up at MV with the AME site. The SD is not going to bus walkers to WV to the north site. In order to fill a northern site one will have to bring in May Watts and Colishaw. Then the SD would probably move WE, Fry and Ashwood to WV. I disagree on your walkers comment. Here is my attempt at drawing the boundaries for AME site. It's based on population density and geography. There are only SEVEN subdivisions in the entire district where the high concentration of high students live: Stonebridge, Oakhust, Brookdale, White Eagle, Tallgrass, Ashbury and High Meadow. Using today's numbers, the breakdown is as follows. Added up 2007/08 enroll divided by 6 grades ES x 4 grades in high school If St J site is selected, district simply draws a line a Ogden Ave. St. John site:Brookdale, Brooks, Longwood, Nancy Young, Steck, McCarty = 3696/6=616 x 4 = 2464 MVHS capacity for Fresh-Senior = 3,000 WVHS:Gombert, Georgetown, White Eagle, Owen, Cowlishaw, Watts, Fry = 4287/6=714 x 4 = 2858 WVHS capacity for Fresh-Senior = 3,000 NVHS:Springbrook, Patterson, Peterson, Graham, Kendall, Builta, Clow, Welch = 5261/6=876 x 4 = 3,504 NVHH capacity Main = 3,000 Keeps Fresh campus +1,200 = NV has great capacity of other two at 4,200 NV Fresh = 876NV Main = 2628 All Three: St John potential = 2464 WVHS = 2858 NVHS Main= 2628; Gold=876 Okay, now let the bashing begin . FYI, I cannot respond to any questions until tonight as I have a big deadline at work today.

I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully your daughter has a good take away lesson from this. Harry has some unusual thoughts on drinking and illegal behavior. Remember, if we would just teach children to drink responsibly . . . Illegally drinking is not the point. Responsibly learning how to drink is.... It is an American failure versus the rest of the world's understanding of drinking responsibly. We have a long way to go on this topic. If breaking the law is the issue, I am confident that everyone on this earth has broken the law in thier life.

Steck? So kids that live next to WV go to AME? Where is the money for bussing all the WV walkers to AME going to come from. The state will not pay for bussing if a student lives within 1.5 miles of a school in their distirct and no hazards .

Hopefully your daughter has a good take away lesson from this. I hope your kids never have to be watching the morning news and recognize a car of a friend that has been involved in a fatal crash - as the news media does it's best to be insensitve also........I would never wish this on anyone. Worse yet I would pray no families ever have to go thru someting like this - it is not something one recovers from. Let us not forget we also lost a revered teacher also to a drunk driver inthis district -- time of day means nothing -- the longer distance one travels - the more major intersections one must cross - the dangers increase accordingly. We all have to live our lives and everyday danger is a part of it -- most of it we can't control -- the parts we can -- we should.

Only a large part of McC walks across the street to WV.
