You lost me Proschool on the kids at two schools part. If you're talking about splitting siblings at two different HSs, every school moved will have families at two different schools. And if they tweak at ES and MS, we could have kids all over the place. We will all have to deal with this problem. But you have to look at boundaries long term and eventually when they tweak stuff, it will take a few years, but things will settle down.

I am talking about living at Montgomery Road and Frontenac and having one child attend elementary school at 79th and Modaff and having another attend High school at Eola and Moliter. That's insane.

I would prefer not to spit Owen at all. I don't see advantage to splitting Owen unless you need to fill MV. The two areas may not be contiguous but there will be frindships built between Owen students that will be lost if one is at NV and the other is at MV. WV is easier to deal with than MV. Yes, school splits are bad. Some people don't want ES's split...some people don't want MS's split. Which is more important? Dist. 203 splits at both ES and MS levels and they are smaller than Dist. 204.

You don't deal with problems like that. Hopefully the board will find a plan where we won't have to deal with it. I"m just saying that if there is tweaking at ES's and MS's and HS's, and you have kids in all of those schools at once, it could get very messy, don't you think? I have no idea if the board is planning on doing all that, but I don't think you can just work the HS boundaries. We've already seen proposals out there that move people from their old MS to a new MS.

I have very little confidence that the Board has some magic bullet to cure this ill. They know it and that is exactly why the secrecy and the hurry up vote.
It's as Gatordog predicted...that they would announce the north site and it would make sense to people looking at a map and no one would realize that the numbers don't work very well until it was too late.
This boundary mess was something completely discussed on the site back in October, there is no painless answer.

I never had Owen West going to MV in my scenario. They would stay at WV. I was trying to fill NV with the vacancy left by the kids at Old Wheatland who are now at Petersen with Owen east kids. And I didn't know if those people leaving WV, coupled with the bussers from Mc/Steck who would be leaving WV, would be enough for Watts to stay at WV, esp. since Owen west would still be there. It's interesting how when you start moving people around to accommodate others who are mad, you end up with different people that are mad. It is certain this boundary war will make a lot of people unhappy. I am only trying to develop a plan for Watts. I admit, I don't live there, but this is only an unbiased person trying to help throw some ideas their way. I didn't proclaim this to be the best plan out there for everyone!

I find this whole thing ironic. In 2005, we were looking at BB land and the first referendum. Apparently, some people voted against the referendum because they didn't like the site, or they wanted to know what school their kids were going to. Now, 3 years later, we know that was the best site out there, yet we can't have it anymore, and now NO ONE is going to know where their kids will end up!

I am so spun up b/c I just talked to someone who lives in Brighton Ridge today (Owen East) and said they will be moved to NV. So, I've heard this and from 3 WE folks that they were "guaranteed" Fry would go with them to WV. This just smacks of deal making. If this comes to pass, we will see that every board member got their interests protected in this deal. I have a real problem with this. Dr. Daeschner gets a good deal for his neighborhood. You want to believe these folks are doing the best for the district - and I'm still hopeful that they will surprise us all with the boundaries - these rumors are why this stuff gets so ugly. What can we do about it? Especially if the district gets slapped with a lawsuit and BB ends up costing us too much to not keep it.

And Springbrook was promised at their PTA meeting that they were not going to be moved. It does smell and it smells bad!!!

If SB was promised at their PTA meeting, then this is a public forum and it should be known who did the promising. Can you contribute?
I can tell you, I live in White Eagle and I have talked to plenty of people and no one has a clue what the district is doing. Again, if you can share names ,I would like to contact these people and ask where their info came from.

Maybe it is someone repeating a rumor or trying to fuel resentment again. Maybe it's an anti third-school person starting rumors....you can't rely on that. I don't know the Dash that well, but I can't believe he would be wheeling and dealing from day 1 of his new job. Maybe I'm being naive, but I really think it's just rumors. I also can't believe a board member would leak that. You know it could eventually come around to bite them if they did that. IMO the school board is very secretive.

The Dash told those at the SB PTA before the site selection that they will not have to pass one highschool to get to another.

I would not release names like that as I wouldn't want to start problems for those people. I don't think Dash is wheeling and dealing. I do think he takes input and guidance from the SB, however - they hired him, afterall.
I don't know if the Owen stuff is rumors but the WE people who I spoke with felt that they were guaranteed (one even used that exact word) of Fry going with them. Perhaps they heard it from neighbors, I didn't pursue it that far, but it definitely sounded strange.
