I think hoping is fine. Like people hoped for BB. But to continue to promise and manipulate the public with highly unlikely outcomes. It is not productive. Sooner or later (in this case later) public opinion changes. Let me hope for something. The public opinion does not turn against the SD. Right now there is one person on the board that says No to just about everything that needs funding. What if you had 4 more in 2009? The public tires of this process and loses faith. Refs are not passed. The district starts to run out of operating funds. The district contracts and schools close. Period. See, unlike most people I was never of the opinion SD204 was infinitely rich. I remember when they were cutting support staff left and right just a couple of years ago. I was not in the SD yet but a close friend (yes, second hand info) finally left the district after 9 years because it became such an incredible grind. It was not about the pay which was always way too low. It was about budgets being slashed across the board and people did not knowing if they would have jobs from one year to the next. So, I guess my picture of the district is not so bright. And I find this lack of fiscal discipline horrific. Don't worry Brad204; people are incredibly forgetful when it comes to voting. Though they were fired up in Feb '06, when it came time to vote for SB members, they re-elected Metzger and Clark as if nothing had ever happened. Nutty!!!! The SB will fire up the PTAs again when they need $$. Mommies will be banging on your car window while you're in the pickup line shoving "VOTE YES" pamplets at you and giving you threatening looks if you dare to question why. Worked last time. I think M2 has major damage control to do. The comment last night regarding the 71 percent that sent supportive emails was an irrelevant stat. The sample size was less than 900 people coupled with some may have sent multiple emails. Was that supposed to make me believe that the majority of our district supported the site and wanted the SB to pass the motion? Time to move on to boundaries but I believe that is already worked out but they will entertain emails and public comment once again but SB already has a plan. Wait and see!

You've got to admit Dr D is making things happen.

You've got to admit Dr D is making things happen. A bull in a china shop can "make things happen". There's usually a nice mess to clean up afterwards too.

You've got to admit Dr D is making things happen. Dr. D doesn't appear to me to have done squat. He inherited a process already rolling and kind of closed it. I'm not sure he would have had the mental horsepower to have done things properly. He doesn't strike me as being a towering intellect. His bottom line was to put an end to the messiness. So yeah, if you consider half-assed let's get it over with results as doing something, then yes, Dr. D's the man.

I really hope they have a plan already made up. I really do not want to see Options A through Z or 1 through 10 with a letter or 2 tacked on. Give us a couple of different choices, and leave it at that. Hopefully one of those choices would have MW/Cowl going to WVHS, which I do think would be a good thing.

^ I'm all for putting a few well thought out options out there, but only if there's the slightest chance that community input will make any difference in the decision. Otherwise it's just another opportunity for us all to eat each other up while still ending up with the SBs (pre-decided) boundaries. The thought that we might "feel better" by being thrown the bone of a perceived choice is beyond annoying.

SSM, I thought the same thing about the 71%; meaningless and easily skewed. The only true measure of what was really supported or not was the vote taken via the polls two years ago. I will not believe the 71% unless it were a true vote taken via polling places like real determinations of public opinions are done. But, heh, water under the bridge.

I thought the 71% was from the "Leave Feedback" polling website? Tallying those responses is meaningless???

I have printed this off and posted it in my office - thank you for that thought, whether there is any chance of that or not. Nothing against anyone going to MV or anyone at NV at all - it's just that it's the school that makes the most sense for us distance and history wise.

Arch, ask them to send in the consultant / marketing firm now if they want a poll. Thanks for the laugh. They will be brought in to pass the operating referendum that everyone thinks has disappeared.
