Where are the Parents Against High Voltage Education when we need them?

At this stage, given where things stand, I'm sure they feel power-less!

I think they might feel more powerful and very energized!
Couldn't resist that...

I surprised people are not more resistant to the hazards.
If put here, with the hazards, it will be the Crown Joule of the statement:
"What were they thinking?"

“The northeast parts of the site are immediately adjacent to two high energy electrical switching substations. That means relatively high electromagnetic radiation would be present at that location. The original location of the Patterson Elementary school in sight of electrical power lines caused uproar over the possibility that electromagnetic radiation might create health issues for the students, and the site was moved to its current location. While the Patterson site created the possibility of exposure to electromagnetic radiation, the Eola/Molitor site is somewhere between a probability and a certainty for exposure to such radiation. Although the scientists studying the question of whether such exposures do or do not create health concerns continue to disagree, the Board sees no advantage in constructing a third high school in such a location if there is any possibility of abandonment for health reasons.” Why now when we are absolutely not in dire straights, is the SB willing to abandon their Patterson precedent and previous statements where they were going to use the same logic as a reason not to construct the third high school in such a location? Again, I am not rehasing the EMF stuff, just seems like concrete evidence someone could use in their lawsuit.
Well sad to report but the location in Ashbury where the school was supposed to be located (right by Conan Doyle and the power lines) is now reporting many diffferent cancer cases. I've been told that street, Frost Lane, has now 8 different cases of persons reporting cancer including a Stage IV breast cancer. Yes, it could just be an odd coincidence but it is very scary nonetheless.

However, aren't those the same power lines (as you follow them west) that go right behind NVHS, right along the southern border of Macom, and right thru Hamman? All remaining sites have some issues. Best you can do is bring in experts and test all sites. AME might end up being no better or worse than those power lines by Frost lane.

IMHO, many of us would pay a premium to minimize risk, no matter what we are purchasing.

I'd also like to remind evryone that sine the original site selection report, the AME site has shifted much farther to the North, now directly abutting those power lines.
It is MUCH CLOSER now, and distance is the key factor in EMF.
To be accurate now, we should rename the site the Midwest Generation site as that appears to be where the majority of the land is now coming from.
This is a waste of time. If the majority of the parents in the district expose their kids to this I can't change their minds - as long as you don't send mine there.

How many parents only buy their kids the "safest" cars produced as tested by the experts? If we are honest, we will say that we buy the best (safest) car that we can afford. If all of the remaining sites (includeing AME) come back with "unsafe" levels, we need to completely stop the process and go back to the drawing board. I do agree that the SB should slow down this train and independently test all potential sites and report back. I don't care if that delays the opening until 2010. In fact, the SB should now go with a 2010 opening to relieve fears that they aren't trying to rush this through and hide something. If the AME site is reported as safe by a reliable expert, I say go forward.

I would be willing to pay more. How come no one ever asked me. Going back a looking more? If you are not certain about the safety of the AME site then its an unacceptable site. BB will not be around in a few weeks.

I'll pay at least triple the price for a safer location even if my kids never go there.

Sure. We'll all be paying triple when it comes to health care costs, litigation, etc. if there genuinely turns out to be health issues involoved.
