Are you sure they house all 238 special ed preK at Wheatland? There were only 349 students they moved from Wheatland over at Peterson. So Peterson still sits half empty.

Gumby - you can say all you want about deja vu - What I am really tired of is all the YES voters now bickering about the location and boundaries etc. I really hope the SB is happy with what they have done to this district. They SOLD this whole mess to the voters. Whatever - they have their "BLANKCHECK" in hand now. They can do whatever they want! Good post! Gumby is sick of NO voters still questioning the accuracy of the SB's numbers (even though it is clear the SB will say just about anything true or not) but not sure why we are tired of the whining from yes voters who clearly voted yes based on boundaries.

First you said Peterson was empty which you were wrong. Then you said Wheatland was empty which you were wrong. That is all I am trying to say.

No matter what district I've lived in I've voted for education. Just the way I am. It's much less about the pocketbook for me than it is for you people. I voted on boundaries because it brought the school closer to my neighborhood. You already know about the MW drive. I still would have voted for the school. We need one. Just not one away from the population density that's going to make my kids grow antannae from their heads.

It's much less about the pocketbook for me than it is for you people. So now I am "you people" because I question the SB and the "on budget" $142mm? I want my kids to great a great education also but, honestly, not at any cost. So what if the number was $175mm? $225mm? The attitude of "whatever the cost" is completely lost on me. It doesn't make me anti-education. You can build a good school for less than $142mm.

Nothing wrong with questioning budgets, etc. but when it means nixing a school because it adds up to the cost of a Starbucks or two a week, then I can't abide by that. If the cost was the higher amounts you mentioned and necessary to build an equivalent facility, I'd still vote yes. The school tax portion is such a small amount relative to everything else.

I'll take a free school from the state anytime. And I will also take moving kids from Wheatland to Peterson and making Wheatland a pre K school if it for kids who need that jump start for K or parents that really can't afford private pre-K. Throw in the savings for storage and how can you not like what they did with Peterson and Wheatland.
Free School from the state, giving kids a head start that need it and saving money

you get over it - and buy yourself a d**n map -- take a look at a map of the district and tell me we are north - measure the north - central and south -- The north end would end about Liberty street - not 75th - central would run from liberty to say 87th and south of 87th would be south. dispute that - instead of just mouthing off yes we may be forced north due to the crappy location chosen and the fact there are not people there to fill the school- and having already having to travel north to get to Hill- has ZERO to do with that- LW and BD are northern schools and should go there- just because we are at Hill means crap as far as where we are located and who said anything about going to NV - where did you get that ?? It is WVHS that is a central school and has always been a centrally located school. Who are you? Who? Who?...Who? Who?... The site will be AME I think. How do you propose filling MVHS without Watts and Cowlishaw? Looking at student population density you are not even central. You are clearly east, but that doesn't matter unless you can somehow get 203 and 204 to merge. Good Luck with That! if you had any comrehension skills you just proved my point -- Watts in no more north than the man in the moon physically- but population wise closer to it than physically. HOWEVER - why the hell put a school where the population isn't ? That only caused people to travel beyond physical boundaries -- WVHS is central nomatter how you look at it - as is Watts and Cowlishaw. Only a stupid decision, and a flurry of posters who now have their shiny new school so they can get over the Neuqua thing after 10 years. congratulations - we put a school where less than 20% of the population resides to make you all happy. I am a 15 minutes bus ride to WVHS and a 40 minute bus ride to MV @ AME -- do the math and tell me again where I am located. But you spin that north - south - east - west thing any way you want -- the proof is in the bus times above - plain and simple. You enjoy that new school - I know you will be glad to hear I won't be joining you. As for another newcomer -- OK here's something positive -- right after this: when you have my commute, and all the issues with location - going to the furthest school from my home for HS - having one of the longest MS commutes - and an 8th grader going into an incomplete school that very well could have environmental issues- a student athlete that will miss a year of sports- then you can tell me what's what, until then shut the heck up. You got what you wanted. Where was everyone before - voting no because they only had 2 of 3 schools in their area ? Here is my positive: I am very happy for my friends from Gombert - because I truly believe they will remain at WVHS and they deserve it I am happy to have made some very good friends here over the past few years from across the district - and of those who live in TG and WE - your fears will be allayed and you will find being a Warrior is a great experience - although I understand your concerns up front and leaving your home school, I do not make light of them Even made a few friends north - Parent is a 1st class individual I would be glad to attend a school with any time anywhere - and WP we may have had some issues lately but I do believe you are sincere not meaning to leave anyone out - you all know who you are - a real CRUSTY bunch that I will always be a part of. Meanwhile, I am far to angry to be posting so until the boundaries are annnounced I am going to try and avoid this as much as possible -

Not to imterrupt, but the proposed final boundaries...removes Old Wheatland and N of Welch from NVHS?
Why would the NV enrollment be reduced from the BB enrollment?
In this boundary proposal WV is overcrowded and MV is under enrolled.
Unless the ES boundaries have REALLY changed.

The wheatland preschool only houses a couple classes. Sixteen kids a class, 5 special ed in each class. The rest of the building is filled with admin. The shoreline location is at capacity. I thought I read in a letter from the principal that they have over 700+ kids now.

rew:
I'm sure they are going to be juggling ES and MS boundaries to try and fill up MV @ Eola.
