We have to get the word "Topher" as a side street or a macot or something. It would always be a symbol of how people can get together at the grassroots and make an effective change. It might be a better idea to bring it up when Rodman has left the school board. True, otherwise we'd have a dead horse named Topher being dragged around the football field at half time. Not a pretty picture. LOL. I almaost fell out of my seat when I read that. Thanks.

I did a google search on Aptakisic. I learned that he was a Potawatomi Chief at a Girl Scout camp tour this past weekend. I believe his name means one that does a full days work in only a half day. Here is a bit of the story taken from www.dupageheritage.org/yps/chapter1.htmlChief Aptakisic who headed the Potawatomi in the DuPage area is said to have met at the Waubunse Indian village near Aurora to confer with emissaries of Chief Blackhawk. The Blackhawk men were trying to enlist the aid of the Potawatomi in the war against the settlers. The Potawatomi chief refused to join in the battle and even urged that the raids on the settlers be stopped. Chief Aptakisic left the Waubunse conference and sent his men on ahead to warn the white settlers, including the Israel Blodgett family who had just built a new house near PawPaw. (Later they moved to Downers Grove Township.) The Blodgett family left their new home and started immediately to Fort Dearborn on the Chicago River. Bailey Hobson, First White Settler Chief Aptakisic protected the family by following the Blodgetts until they were near the fort. Feeling they were safe from the marauders, he left them for the remainder of the trip. The following day, the family forded the river with their wagon and oxen team to reach Fort Dearborn on Lake Michigan. Blodgett then returned to help other men from Naper Settlement complete Fort Payne under the direction of Captain Morgan Payne and a detachment of militia which came from the Joliet area.

Can't we just be the Bailey Hobson Blackhawks or something? Aptakisic sounds like that medicine they use to make you throw up.

"If you're pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, please see your doctor before attending Aptakisic. Some people have reported serious complications while attenting Aptakisic including: Cotton mouth, drowsiness, stomache, itchy eyes, and fatigue. Please tell your doctor if you are attending other schools as serious schedule conflicts may occur."

Seneca Valley sounds nice and it fits with the others. For a nickname, how about the Purple Haze. After this referendum I think most of us are in a haze and will be for awhile. Anyway since most on this board are in the new school area, I officially designate the yes voters on this board as the new booster club. The golf fundraiser has to be at WE of course. Drinks are on me. (For only this board)

Something for all to look forward to. Along with spring on the links. I'll drink to that. ;D

I really don't care what the new school is named, remember my ES is named Gombert. When I first heard that name, well what can I say. Turns out, the name has grown on me. I am actually honored that our school carries the name of Peter Gombert. Still MS too, what an honor. Whatever, lets just build this thing.

I still like the idea of naming the school for an outstanding individual who was known for his or her great character and changed the world for the better. I like the idea of naming the high school Ronald Reagan High School and naming the middle school Paul Simon Middle School.

Let's get it rollin' IMO, maybe the colors should be black and gold in honor of our ubiquitous "Yes" signs. Maybe we can recycle them to fill in some of the display cases before the plaques and trophies take their place.

Man. I can see my kids getting the crud beat out of them for going to 'Aptakisic'. Pot high is not sounding so bad ;-) I think "Willard Scott High School" is still available though
