Owen to MV makes no sense. Owen is at 79th Street and Modaff Road. Those two schools would at extreme opposites in the district. they are part of that vacuum called the 75th street corridor -- although I think they are the longest shot - you cannot rule out they will be asked to go north - based on conversations yesterday it seems no school splitting is the main focus -- if that is held to the letter of the law than Owen is likely next after Watts - it's either that or WE - who do you think will go ? The north end of Owen ( Brighton Ridge is on 75th street) and if no McCarty or Steck kids go north, and no Gombert -- congratulations - Owen will replace Watts as having the longest commute. Studies were done on bus routes for each school to each HS - so they already know the distance and time. For Owen's sake I hope they are not included as I wish this nonsense on no one - but they should not rest easy until this is announced - sometime in February is what we were told yesterday. Remember WVHS is now called a WESTERN SCHOOL' and Owen is East just like Watts. I believe at this point just about anything could be justified Mv and Owen will be almost 10 miles apart. Why not Fry or White Eagle to MV. They are much closer than Owen.

Remember WVHS is now called a WESTERN SCHOOL' and Owen is East just like Watts. I believe at this point just about anything could be justified Owen is split between Brighton Ridge and Westglen in Naperville and Chicory Place, Meadowlakes, and Stonehaven in Aurora. My daughter has a 20-30 minute bus ride (I can confirm with my wife) to school (Owen). It is very possible, and probable, that people from my area (Aurora) would be driving past WVHS to get to MVHS. Not to mention the Naperville side driving the 10 miles another poster mentioned. If they're able to give projections on busing time and the like, why are they not providing boundaries until February? (Edited to clarify Owen, Aurora, and add comment about 10 miles)

Err, well under the old (new 2009 plan) we were driving past two to get to a third HS. I was not in the SD204 area the last time boundary wars happened. I assume this is only the start of the beginning??

I think so far there has been only one hit on the flint and it really has not even made a spark yet.

Bob, I am using projected enrollment at buildout, accomodating for growth. Which is what the SB used in the last round of boundaries. I am using 3000, 3000. 4200 as school capacities.

Remember the dash advised he is planning on k thru 12 boundary changes, so everything is on the block. just because one area goes to a certain school now does not mean they will be going there when it's all done. Granted there are some givens such as the subdivisions that the ES are located in should go to that school. Such as WE to WE ES, Oakhurst to Steck, etc. it's the subdivisions that have no ES that will move around, hopefully to the closest ES to them.

The west part of Owen is north of WE. The east part is 7.6 miles from AME This google map function is so much fun. ...And the west part of Owen is 6 miles to Owen elementary. What of logistics would a family have to endure if the have on kid six miles to the west and another kid 8 miles to the north? Owen is the last school that will need to go to MV. You might as well send Pederson and Fry to MV they are closer and there are a lot of people there who will be happy at WV. ETA Owen to eola and Moliter is 8.4 miles on google maps

I thought at the IPPC meeting Daeschner said he was going to "clean up" ES boundaries. So if you are currently bussed to your ES I'd say you have "clean up" potential and shouldn't count on staying there.

Started at WE, moved to McC, moved to Owen and now moved to ? That is a lot to ask one area.
