True, true, particularly when it comes to kids, there's more sensitivity.
It's just funny when people come up with terms to describe another when there isn't any basis. I have traveled the world over. In my job I deal with people from every part of the globe. My father was stationed in Mexico for a number of years where I would spend months during the summer visiting and go for all the holidays. When I went to work for that same company, I called them friends and they truly are/were.
So, don't call me a xenophobe when I likely had more experience with foreigners than the average person.
Now as for those darn French people . . .

I'm hardly a xenophobe. You really don't know who I am, so your comments are silly. Just like the whole psychonalysis and child psychology comments from others on this board. Give me a break. PC always rules, doesn't it . . . www.isbe.state.il.us/news/2004/2004_IL_ACT_data.pdfAnd yes, it's not 204 specific. Anybody have a link for a similar 204 specific site having similar subject matter? Well I look at it like this - the academically brilliant Aisian kids must be really upset with us white people bringing down their scores, because we put more focus on soccer than algebra. It is all a matter of perspective. Bill Gates and his wife have an entire foundation dedicated to building and improving high schools around the country and he thinks we should dessimate the entire HS system, but knows people wouldn't tolerate it because it would mess with our football teams..... Lol, I know I used to steer clear of classes with lots of Asian kids during my undergrad days because I was afraid of what the curve would look like in those classes. I really didn't want to kill myself in class only to end up with a low grade. It was really kind of a good natured joke back then. Yes, it's most certainly perspective, but it's also a matter of degree.

I used to always try to convince an Aisian kid to be my lab partner in my chem classes. Funny, now I know why he would always avoid me ;D How mean....

How do they run class periods? Is the whole student body in the halls at the same time?

How do they run class periods? Is the whole student body in the halls at the same time? Pretty much. the period bell rings and it's off to the races to your next class, along with all the other students. I don't think there is any practical way to stagger Hall passing times that would not be disruptive, although they probably could make them longer say 15 min passin periods instead of 10.

In my HS, they broke everything into mods
A,B, CDE,FGH,IJK,LMN,OP, Q
lunches were CD FG IJ LM OP
My senior year was
A B CD EFG HIJ KLM NOP Q A,B,Q,3 letter combos were full class time.
This way the whole school wasn't changing classes at the same time. Only 3 minutes between classes with 2200 boys.

Interesting... were there bells at each mod? or was it left up to the teachers to dismiss?

Why can't the freshman campus be kept for more classroom space for Waubonsie to be used by all grades? Does Hill, Still and Granger really have overcrowding problems? To me, it is so unfair that WVHS gets treated like the "red headed step child" not only do they get ignored when it comes to renovations, they have their freshman center get taken away, which I really liked. The only problem I have though is that there does not seem to be communication between the gold and green campus in terms of clubs.
I know at Queen of Peace High School in Burbank, IL to make it fresh, they switch the class periods every day.

Evidently, there's an area in the front of the building that can accomodate all of the Freshman, while keeping them separate from the upper classes. The space also has easy access to the common areas like the LMC, science labs, etc.

Let me clear this up
A was your first class of the day 8:30-9:15
15 minute Homeroom
B second class 45min 9:30-10.15
CD lunch 10:15-10:45 2 letters = lunch
EFG third class 10:45-11:30
HIJ fourth class 11:30-12:15
KLM fifth class 12:15-1:00
NOP sixth class 1:00-1:45
Q last class 1:45 -2:30
Other scheldules would be A,B,CDE,FG,HIJ,KLM,NOP,Q A.B.CDE.FGH,IJ,KLM,NOP,Q A,B,CDE,FGH,IJK,LM,NOP,Q A,B,CDE,FGH,IJK,LMN,OP,Q
A,B,Q are 45 minutes, The others are 15 minutes.
Except for A,B,Q, at least 20% of the school is always on a different time scheldule for the day. This should clear up the halls. Yes, there will classes going on while kids are in the hall but I think they can live with that.
The funny thing is that I thought all HS ran on a similiar scheldule. Who would ever want the whole school changing classes at the same time?

OK Topher I have to ask........Where did you go to High School? I think that schedule is very interesting. so would FG be like a study hall? or a shorter class?
'round these parts ( I went to Lisle HS - 1200 students total) and we all changed at the same time.
