Actually it is more a function of the economic trends of the area/state. I want to caution everyone - Low income does not mean low performance. IMHO it is a non-issue. Exactly. While there do tend to be correlations, a correlation does not mean one causes the other, or that they will always be in step.

Did you see the kid on TV next to that guy who that Bulls star ran across the stands? The kid holding him back had a WV varsity jacket

I heard that Antonio Davis lived in Stonebridge and that his kids went to Brooks.

Did you also hear that AD's wife got into a traffic situation in Naperville where she apparently cut off another woman (who actually had the right of way) and when the two drew along side wach other, AD's wife threw a cup of coffee into the woman's car and onto the woman. The woman apparently refused to press charges because she just didn't want to deal with them. They interviewed this person on WBBM 780.
I think AD has a major b**ch for a wife. Shes got other anger issues as well, when you read what she's done with other players. You can give them all the money you want, but I guess you can't make thugs into royalty.

Dear Parents:
Indian Prairie School District is in the early stages of implementing an on-line grade book. Secondary (grades 6-12) teachers will be implementing the software district-wide beginning in August 2006. Full parent access will be available in January 2007.
Teachers from across the district are engaged in training and early use of the product. On March 3, 2006, all secondary teachers will be trained so that they can begin to use the software. Additional training will occur during the summer and early in the 2006-2007 school year. The new system, known as Pinnacle, will allow schools to extract reports for athletic eligibility and other reports as well as to provide on-line access to student progress on-line.
Some teachers are working in test implementations of the software, and they are beginning to test the parent access portion of the grade book. Those teachers will send letters home announcing their participation in the test, with instructions for parents to access the grades. If you have not received such a letter of participation, student grades may not be accurate.
Many teachers will continue to keep grades in the Making the Grade software that is not accessible to parents. Other teachers who are using Pinnacle are involved in learning the specific operations of the software.
Until parent access is fully functional, parents should continue to request grade summaries from teachers through electronic mail, telephone calls, and other means of communication. During testing and final implementation of the new software, report cards will continue to be printed and delivered through U.S. mail.
If you have any questions about the on-line grade book, please contact me.

Sounds like another good plan

This was distressing:
My daughter had an orchestra thing at WV this weekend. The NV and WV chamber orchestras played for each other and had an outside judge critique their performances. WV went first and then NV. During the time that the orchestras were switching off, a large piece of ceiling tile fell onto the stage. My daughter said that had it hit a person they would have been killed. As it was, the piece hit the edge of the stage and took a gouge out of it.
Why on earth don't they maintain WV? And I mean more than just paint!

I was at a ref meeting recently and the Admin member present said that 35% of the SDs capital expenditure budget goes to WVHS.
WVHS is an older bldng and you would expect it would need more updates/repairs/expenses than the newer bldngs. But I think it's incorrect to assume that WV is getting the short straw because something breaks there.
We have had repair issues at our new school as well. They may not be so obvious because things look pretty.

And I mean more than just paint! When the last referendum failed it made me worry about the state of schools since the referendum included Operations and Maintenance as well. I know the district has shifted it's budget to accomodate extreme needs for school maintenance, but one has to wonder if we are neglecting safety issues because the money isn't there to properly maintain the buildings.

Also, if you will look back at my posts you will find that I have never said a bad word about WV.
