Snerdley, grow up. Unfortunately Rural, the spraypainting has happened before and you and I both know it. Add to that the creepy allegations of the person writing down license plate numbers in the parking lot and I think it's safe to say some are teetering on the brink here.

I just can't believe an adult did the spraypainting. Perhaps I'm being a curmudgeon, but my guess is it was probably a HSer sick of the bashing. Unless it was only one house that was tagged. I don't remember the specifics.

I don't know, but I am nervous about the hate I have seen. I have seen adults, not the kids behaving badly.

I don't remember the specifics. In the incident I saw, it was 5 or 6 houses within a few block radius with several garage doors defaced. In may cases required $100's of dollars for repainting/refinishing. I still think it was likely kids, but kids have big ears and act out on what they hear sometmes...

However, in my mind at least, spraypainting a particularly bad sketch of the male anatomy on someone's garage is a more juvenile prank attack.

Maybe...but it's safe to say there are some adults engaging in behavior that is reprehensible. And the SB and District have been absolutely silent. To me, this speaks volumes. I wonder if they find the divide useful in someway. I don't know - I don't get it. But what I do know is that strong leaders would speak out against it. And none of them have so much as said peep.

Regardless of what age the person was who did it, the sad fact is that our own Administration and School board are vilifying in a generic way certain areas of the district. From there it starts to take on a mind of its own as everyone trying to 'stand behind them' on the 'winning side' or the side of 'right' takes it upon themselves to 'help the cause'.
This is how bad things start to happen; it's called scape goating.

Rural, I would like to know what you are advocating up at Eola/Molitor? A condemnation suit against the church? A school on 49 acres?

It's also possible that some share the sentiments. They've been pretty verbal about that. ETA: Not towards any neighborhood in particular.

Rural, I would like to know what you are advocating up at Eola/Molitor? A condemnation suit against the church? A school on 49 acres? I'm not advocating anything. If we cannot build on the entire remediated MWGEN/AME parcel, it ain't gonna happen. It won't happen at BB because we can't afford it. So that leaves us with Hamman (the enviro there is just as bad if not worse than AME) or Macom. So perhaps, Ashwood may have the shortest commute after all. ETA: Of course there's also the cram 'em in approach.

Here are some words of wisdom for our Board and Administration. As we move forward, hopefully the focus will be on how to move forward building a concensus of the community (as opposed to continuing to pit neighbor against neighbor in an attempt to force the Administration's will on the district):
Good leaders make people feel that they're at the very heart of things, not at the periphery.
"Unknown"
Leadership rests not only upon ability, not only upon capacity; having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it. His leadership is then based on truth and character. There must be truth in the purpose and will power in the character." --Vince Lombardi
You do not lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership." --Dwight D. Eisenhower
"The quality of leadership, more than any other single factor, determines the success or failure of an organization." --Fred Fiedler and Martin Chemers in Improving Leadership Effectiveness
And finally in light of the fact that the purpose of the District is to guide the future of our children:
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia:
I am hopeful that starting today, we can go back to the ear that existed prior to Dr. Daeschner's arrival. Our community is blessed with caring and active parents. Please...let's treat this as a resource as opposed to a hinderance!

Some people may not like his methods, but the man can get crap done and quick. Now, thanks in great part to NSFOC's intimidation and bullying he's going to have to do his job over again.
"Didn't I just clean up this mess?"

So let's help move to a new era (sorry for the sloppy ear vs era reference).
