People like Jennifer Streder and Chad Martinson are adding fuel to the fire. So its ok to file a lawsuit, but its not ok to speak out publically? Whats that about? I support Chad and Jennifer just simply for not filing a lawsuit. I would rather my children see someone speak out than run for lawyer - sorry, but I feel they are better role models. And speaking of role models, I actually know Jennifer and she puts in more volunteer hours for this District than most; she donates time, money, energy and she is willing to speak when askd. She is a huge WVHS supporter - were you aware of that? Where are the others? Sitting in the back of school board meetings, writing on blogs and doing what for our schools? Not much. I don't honestly agree all the time with Jennifer or any of the PTA Presidents, but I am darn glad they are there to do so much for our schools and I have to support them for that. AND when they do have an issue with the schools, they work at creating relationships and dialogue and work with them, they don't sue them. I know - an oddity in this community, huh? I'm just tired of volunteer bashing - the SB, the PTA folks ... get off the blog and go volunteer and we will all be better off. My 2 cents for the day. my guess is I have volunteered more time in my 19 years in this district than you have ( and many of those who 'sit int he back of SB meetings do also) - by a longshot, so you may want to have a clue before you take off on an entire group - but that seems to be an area of expertise for some. PTA presidents are supposed to represent the people of their school- she does NOT represent me or almost anyone I know here with those opinions... we'll let others decide if she overstepped her bounds our not. If that's a role model for my child, I'll pass. the #1 goal of her positon should be safety and education, not slanderous comments about fellow 204 residents. so you can keep your 2 cents.......after all I am anti Eola site, so I must be one of the elitist bunch in ritzy homes - how disgustng.

So you're proud of Chad Martinsen out in the parking lot of a NSFOC meeting apparently writing down license plate numbers? If that's an example of District 204's finest, then I definitely don't fit in. And no, I wasn't aware that Ms. Streater was a huge supporter of WVHS. It looks like she's doing everything she can to GET OUT. Just my 2 cents. And BTW, what choice did NSFOC have but to have the courts sort this out? The district and SB refused to listen to anyone other than the people who agree with them. They slandered all of us and then dared us to take them on. Well, OK.

You want to know why people believe this has to do with elitism and racism how about this post from STINKS back in January about the kids they don't want to be with -
Re: Where is the new HS going? « Reply #397 on Jan 16, 2008, 2:31pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah right, rocky. No way I want my kids being in the slow school. You want smart kids, you have to be in a smart environment. Balance the d**n schools, but don't leave one poor and stupid.
I can't even tell you all the horror stories I've heard about Hill MS and the fights between certain minority groups and the majority population. And we want to jam all those people into a single HS?
Great thinking.
End of comment
Calling schools poor and stupid because of the population kind of sounds like racism and elitism to me. You also make the assumption that I voted NO - your wrong!
Do I need to go back to 2006 and post the rest of the ugly comments!
If everyone was really about environmental why was Macom site okay for many of the NSFOC founders. I am sorry there are people that are caught in the middle but the people who started this are the people that posted comments over and over like the above.

What I am so surprised about is how the SUN is fueling the fire. Can anyone verify for me the rumor I heard that the editor came from the National Enquirer? Everyone needs to take a pill, for chrissakes. No, we're not taking a pill and we're not drinking the Kool-Aid. People have every right to be upset and angry over the comments made. And I'm beginning to think that Chad and Jennifer are the district's and SB's mouthpieces. How pathetic.

Jennifer is not the only one that dedicates a great deal of her time volunteering in this district. Many others do as well. Being a volunteer isn't an excuse for making stupid decisions or slanderous comments.
I can't tell you how upset I am at Jennifer calling me and my fellow neighbors racist. It was really uncalled for.

My point was the Sun was not the ones fueling the fire. There should be a school being built off 75th street, that fact that it isn't is what is causing the problems we are in. It is one thing to speak out and say if you are for/against the site, but when they start calling others elitist and selfish I have a problem with that especially when they are so active in the PTA. There are some of us in the same attendance area that think the Eola site is not the appropriate site.

I doubt you can beat my volunteer record, Sir. I have no idea why you would make that assumption. Jennifer does not speak as a Rep of Hill; she speaks as an individual first and foremost with her own opinion. I honestly have no idea where you are coming from on that one. I think you just like to bash those who speak up as you sit secretly on a blog - stand up at a school board meeting and talk. Or is that too threatening for those who like to hide?! I admire Jennifer's ability to speak out. And I support the Eola site.

Because none of us know who the h*ll "Rocky" even is! And even if we did, he doesn't speak for THOUSANDS of people. And how about all the crap that's been thrown around about the "rich kids". Guess that doesn't count. I'm seeing a whole new legal angle. They have set out to "punish" certain areas because some idiot supposedly said something. Never mind what other idiots said. That doesn't matter. Let's just "punish" the "rich" people. That's what this is all about and it won't fly. They want a class warfare here. The district and SB have done everything they can to instigate it.

But they have put themselves out there that they don't want to go to THAT school. We all have to agree to that, right? You aren't one of them obviously - so why are you taking offense? Sorry, but I have idiots in my neighborhood - I have families who ask our Indian residents why they don't go back to their own country. Lovely. I don't take offense at anyone calling them racist and know it aint me.

I firmly believe that many of the Eola site supporters want OUT of WVHS. Those of us who attended SB meetings for the last several years have seen it and heard it with our own eyes. It's THE motivating factor in their "war" and they are counting on the SB (most of whom live in the north) to deliver it to them. These people are dragging this district down in the gutter. How they sleep at night I don't know.

Are you kidding with your ignorance - hoping my children don't have the misfortune to attend school with yours. Ignorance is very unbecoming - get educated!! Don't need to get educated about anything. These are first hand stories from people in this area (May Watts) with kids that went to Hill. I heard these during some weekend breakfasts in the park they have out here. These incidents happened about 10 years ago. I can't imagine things have changed much, unless there was a bad class or two at the time. Look, I'm not screaming for any kind of separation, but I do want balance. Economic and academic. MY RESPONSES -- they are in the backlog - just look them upOkay, I am a 20 year resident of Watts and had a 1 1999 Hill graduate and I have an 8th grader - and there has not been any incident of consequence like you speak of while either was there, so I think you have either a 1 time incident - or a fabrication.
So things are far from as you portray them as I view Hill as the finest MS in the district. This is the kind of crapola that gets spread that causes much of the issue this district has -- and it's always someone who told someone - never first hand Re: Where is the new HS going? « Reply #430 on Jan 16, 2008, 5:06pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I won't disagree that some balance could help booster clubs - etc -- but let's not drag down a school with 2nd hand info from 10 years ago -- even if they had one incident 10 years ago - that is 1. There has been nothing the last 9 that I am aware of, in fact the kids there should be a model of how to get along. it's this stereotypical crapola that perpetuates issues. I hear rumors today of exactly the same incidents supposedly happening that were told me me 10 years ago except the names are changed- their called urban myths. There was no need to enter that into the conversation to get a different point across.
