Jennifer is not the only one that dedicates a great deal of her time volunteering in this district. Many others do as well. Being a volunteer isn't an excuse for making stupid decisions or slanderous comments. I can't tell you how upset I am at Jennifer calling me and my fellow neighbors racist. It was really uncalled for. You do have a few in the south who are openly racist and make comments - that in no way is everyone or even a majority. But they have put themselves out there that they don't want to go to THAT school. We all have to agree to that, right? You aren't one of them obviously - so why are you taking offense? Sorry, but I have idiots in my neighborhood - I have families who ask our Indian residents why they don't go back to their own country. Lovely. I don't take offense at anyone calling them racist and know it aint me. The bottom line is that the elected officials of this district should be acting in the best interests of the entire district and all of the kids. Having an "agenda" meant to "settle a score" is highly inappropriate. And it's becoming clearer and clearer to me, that is what motivates them. That's why there are currently 3 lawsuits filed against them.

Dr. Who, take it easy. Remember Murphy's law: if you argue with an idiot people won't be able to tell you apart. Take the high road, you're better than that.

I doubt you can beat my volunteer record, Sir. I have no idea why you would make that assumption. Jennifer does not speak as a Rep of Hill; she speaks as an individual first and foremost with her own opinion. I honestly have no idea where you are coming from on that one. I think you just like to bash those who speak up as you sit secretly on a blog - stand up at a school board meeting and talk. Or is that too threatening for those who like to hide?! I admire Jennifer's ability to speak out. And I support the Eola site. I'm glad that you admire Jennifer's ability to speak out. That says a lot. Personally I think her comments were quite off-base and very slanderous and given her position as PTA president she had no right to present as such. Let's take that a step further, imagine the Fry (TG) PTA President standing up and calling other racist and elitists. How would that go over? Do you think everyone would sit idly by and support her (by the way, she's a minority as is much of our TG community)? Somehow, I think not. In addition, how dare you sit back and criticize a whole group here for not volunteering, not speaking out, sitting secretly on blogs, etc. I know one thing - you're not talking about me. I have been a volunteer in our SD and the Naperville community for almost 15 years, I attend SB meetings (even sign up to speak, imagine that ), and write letters to the SB members, LTEs, etc. Please don't make ASSumptions about me or anyone else. I don't think anyone here needs your money .

I feel his frustration, but there are probably better ways to channel our energy than to argue with the people who are promulgating the hatred. Doc, for now, go watch the YOUGOTOWNED video and grab a cold one. You'll feel better.

Doctorwho - you have my apology just also found your comment and removed your info from mine. I'm sorry for the error.
One thing I must say is that there have been many ommissions from my comment to the press - like the fact that I thought there was a very small group that were elitists and racist and that this was their motivation. Also that I was upset that whole neighborhoods were getting labeled ie: WE & TG and that the labeling needed to stop. I never said ritzy homes. And for those that have posted that I can't afford a larger home - is it so unbelievable that maybe I like my neighborhood and don't need or want a bigger home or to move further south. Why did you immediately have to say I can't afford one. What I love is that you will let a cut and paste quote determine who I am and that for those that know me or know my face not a direct call or comment to even verify was that really what happened or was said. When did the Naperville Sun become the pillar of the community on truth - if we believed everything we read!

I think Jennifer has every right to say what she wants.
It lets everyone know where she stands and what to keep in mind when considering her for any position in the future.

You're right but I still like the Mark Twain quote "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Too bad more people can't live by that code.

When did the Naperville Sun become the pillar of the community on truth - if we believed everything we read! I accept the apology, but hopefully now you understand how passionate I am about Hill and Waubonsie. It breaks my heart my daughter cannot attend that school, as well as hers. I will allow people to throw rocks at me on many things- but my love of Hill, Watts, WVHS and children and eduation for children is out of bounds because of my lifetime dedication to it. So it is possible also that people can be anti Eola site for a variery of reasons, and no I do not like the boundaries or the commute, I think it is grossly unfair to my area to ask us to commute that far for MS and HS - but I actually do have health concern issues as well. I do know people that are members of nsfoc ( I am not ) - and they are people too. One was reduced to tears all day after the rascism comment- as they have spent their life dedicated to equality on all levels. You have no idea how hurtful it was to them. They left the previous area they lived in because of rascism against them. And for the record I was never one who said you can't afford a larger home -- my home is also not considered 'large' by some standards but I have many friends in large homes and they are nice people also. I could care less what house someone lives in - I grew up poor on the south side of Chicago - we never had a house... which is why the appearance of playing the 'poor us' vs the rich people for me is hilarious. I grew up with poor people-- I was one.... and trust me very few people here qualify as poor. I travel to South America on business - those are people who have a poor card to play. I do youth motivation in the CPS system, and there ar epeople there who have real issues to deal with. I speak in schools that have lost children to violence this year - I am a graduate of CPS and I believe in giving back however. The class warfare here will lead to nothing but problems, much bigger than a school site, and I want to see them stop. I will take your word the phrase was taken out of context - however I would ask that you contact the Sun and demand they print what was really said.... they owe that to you as what they printed I find extremely offensive. I would think if you don't agree with the kind of stuff they printed- you'd understand why.

When did the Naperville Sun become the pillar of the community on truth - if we believed everything we read! Just curious if you were possibly misquoted twice - here is a quote from the Herald's article yesterday: Jennifer Streder, of Napervile's Brookdale neighborhood, said Friday she hopes the district finds a way to build along Eola. "People are appalled, shocked and hurt that elitism wins in this case," she said. "And that's what they are, a small group of parents who believe they got a deed to a seat in a school, sitting next to whoever they want, when they bought their ritzy homes. "Well they've woken and disgusted a silent majority here and we're tired of their unacceptance of certain aspects of our community and Waubonsie Valley High School." Unfortunately, they are not a small group of parents. There are many who are very upset.

Unfortunately, they are not a small group of parents. There are many who are very upset. Seems to be the same mantra - minus the term racist which really sent people over the edge. I read it as the Herald article didn't quite get the reaction she was looking for so "racist" was added to the Sun article. A little ramping up so to speak. Who knows - maybe the interviews were done the same day. Either way, I think she got a reaction from us elitists in our ritzy homes. Bully for you, Jennifer.
