I agree that Black and Gold would give the school an aura of class and style.
As far as a hawk mascot...dare I dream?

Hawk may be too close to Naperville Central's redhawks. I still like the Eagle. Do the students vote on this? I know they vote on colors.

I like black and gold, and crimson and gold.
What....no mention of TATANKA? I think Bison would be a cool mascot.
Bob, the banana slug is about exciting as the spider mite.

For mascot, sticking with Native American theme: I suggest THUNDERBIRDS.
Its a dragon-like creature whose flapping wings cause thunder. Unusual for native american mythology in that its story is common across many different tribes over wide regions.
I like the sound of "Metea T-birds." I like the idea of something unique!
Another idea, from Indian/"car" inspiration is MUSTANGS. Metea Mustangs has a ring to it also.

bob and T1P I have the perfect compromise for you, the banana spider.
Actually, I like thunderbird a lot. The building actually looks like an abstract thunderbird, it would be very appropriate.

For colors, my daughter, who actually has a vote in this I understand, says: Purple and Gold.
What about Sky Blue and Gold? I agree with ESPN's Chris Berman, that the old throwback AFL-style San Diego Chargers uniforms are "the most gorgeous in all of sports."
Would sky blue be too similar to NVHS? Well, those blues contrast enough for two rivals, UCLA (sky blue and gold) and Cal-Berkeley (dark blue and yellow).

My daughter(10), a future Metea Valley Student and a loyal Bear's fan, saw the Chargers on TV with those blue jerseys and said that she now has to root for them because of their colors. Her favorite color is sky blue.  and it matches the colors of Bob's banana slugs mascot idea!....... |
