Oh no, there's a huge conspiracy because they have not posted the numbers earlier than last year. Now that made me laugh. Patience is a virtue but you know how easy it is for us to jump to conclusions. I would rather wait for an accurate count instead of just putting a figure out there to please those that are impatient.

enrollment numbers are projected in 08 by the powers that be on this board as
08 8086 09 8591 10 8907
and further conservative going forward
there is no 9700
there is no 10 400
explain to me again why we need a 3rd hs with keeping both Freshmen campuses in place and, regardless what FUD the DR spews, Frontier is not only good for 600 students but will be growing.
WHY OH WHY do we need to over tax the community with a new hs???

The SB does...they entered into a referendum with zero accountability They have a likelihood of being either sued or facing the 2009/20whenever referendum in which, since they havent been forthcoming, having that referendum being voted down but keep hanging your beany on the past vote,,,it obviously makes you feel better

HS enrollment using DPC #s
9143 2016 9165 2015 9106 2014 9192 2013 9228 2012 9133 2011 8907 2010 8591 2009 8086 2008
That's 1000 more students by 2011 than today's enrollment

Harry, consider this a formal warning. Keep attacking Dr Who for no reason, and I'll show you the door in a split-second. We've had to shut down far too many threads due to you, and I don't care if you're busting at the seams for a fight. You're not starting one here. You're on thin ice.

If these schools have been and still are so overcrowded, why has it taken the SB over a year to put into place something that would help. If this new school does not open until 2010, that is 4 years that these kids have been in a very overcrowded situation. Does not add up.

Don't worry, BC. In a couple of years if a new HS isn't built and in place I feel we will have to pay again for a temporary solution due to the delays and inability to just accept the fact that not everyone is going to like the decision but to go ahead and make it anyways and start construction immediately.
I'd love to be wrong on that, but I believe all this haggling about 'saving money' is going to cost us way more in the long run.

Arch- Sad to say that this choice should have made a long time ago - instead of the freshman centers. By the time this school is buit - given our housing market- the need will not be there.

Arch- Sad to say that this choice should have made a long time ago - instead of the freshman centers. By the time this school is buit - given our housing market- the need will not be there. and when ( not if ) the market returns - and there is 5%-10% left available to build on - the money is not more expensive ? The land and building are not more expensive ? And how long is it going to take to build the school to get around what's in the pipeline now ? As far as the freshman centers - I didn't like them either ( but for different reasons ) - but that decision is over.... there are lots of stocks I passed on that I wish I had in my portfolio in the long run - - sometimes you have to live with your decisions.

Don't attact the messenger but thought you would all be interested in this LTE from the Daily Herald
No need to build a new high school Published: 10/5/2007 2:25 AMSend To:
Just released figures from Indian Prairie School District 204 show that for the second year in a row, K-5 enrollment declined by hundreds of students. Where will the students come from for the yet to be built multi-million dollar high school with an annual operating budget of millions more? Remember when the district told you enrollment would grow by 1,200-1,500 students? Wrong, there is no student growth (at the elementary school level) and the numbers clearly show that.
Remember when they threatened you with split shifts and hired a dirty tricks marketing firm using your tax dollars to scare you with threats of overcrowding? Have they no shame?
Remember when they told you "no tax increase"? Yeah, right, everyone knows you can borrow hundreds of millions of dollars and your taxes won't go up! What do they call that, new math? Ask your neighbor, who had her house foreclosed because she could not pay her tax bill, what she calls it. Skyrocketing property taxes are ruining the quality of life in our community. Everyone wants good schools and a good education for their children but they don't want senior citizens and the working mother next door unnecessarily taxed out of their homes due to mismanagement and government waste.
Indian Prairie School District 204 already built an empty elementary school that had stood empty for an entire school year. Do we need an empty high school too?
What we need is an outside, independent review.

Paul White withhold some more facts.
Grade School going down because the two large classes left.
HS School 9143 2016 9165 2015 9106 2014 9192 2013 9228 2012 9133 2011 8907 2010 8591 2009 8086 2008
Increasing home valuations do have a part in increasing property taxes which he omitts.
1)I call it buying a house outside her means. Maybe Paul White wants to subsidise people so they can buy houses they can't afford. Is he trying to be Hillary's running mate.
2) If her house was foreclosed, it was because she couldn't pay her mortgage not her taxes.

Can anyone verify what our "friend", Paul White says?
Were the SD's enrollment numbers just released? Are we really down by hundreds of students? If that's truly the case, I'd think the SB would be pushing for rezoning properties to get mixed housing in the district. They need to come up with some more students to increase those enrollment predictions.
