a lot of that 'venom' came home with my daughter from things she heard in other households.... don't forget a lot of these people think "Everyone' is with them. I can't tell you how many times last year she and some of her friends heard the elitist comments and the we've got our school now comments. So yes, did I have to answer to her questions - yes I did. What would you have told your kid ? She listened to people rip on areas where many of her close friends live... nice huh ? I know how I would have handled it. yours is all here for public consumption...... please tell me how you would have handled it...seriously, I'd like to know. In some cases I confronted ( sans kids) those where some of this came from. In some cases it was embarassment that it was repeated back thru the kids and one apology-- in one other case I was told to F off - either I 'got it' about the new school or I didn't and to stop being a wanna be resident of a certain area. Nice eh ?

Wow, I didn't know that my coming back to this board would create such a rise on the green board. There is one member on green that has some serious animosity towards me. I'm not sure what all the hate is about, but it seems he/she is pretty negative about many things. Honestly, this person doesn't, in my opinon reflect the opinion of the green board as his/her comments are rarely commented on. majorianthrax Junior member is offline

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see Macy is back on the blue board. I knew she couldn't keep away; not with the SB elections coming up. I just love those people. LOL well we 'love' you here too Macy , glad you're back- and that statement is not the sarcasm from those who are just so pleasant -- and agree can't make that a blanket statement because it is mostly just a few. I am expecting to see others too-( woke up blankcheck today also) as yes election time will get people back involved again. Very involved. That will not come as good news to some. may start calling blankcheck Nostradamus since they called much of this when this board was in it's infancy

For the record, I'm saying so....I have not influenced my child's opinion about the new HS. Believe me, my HS kids would not even want to sit and listen to me talk about the SB/HS situation. Have you ever tried to talk to a 15 year old about such a "dry" subject ;D. Very little is ever said. I have not caused my child to have a negative opinion about the situation at hand. Believe it or not, my child came up with that idea all alone. From the get-go I've said almost nothing about the 3rd high school, boundaries, moving schools, etc. because let's face it, it may not happen and these would all be moot points. Just because our SB says MV will open in 2009 doesn't make it so (remember when they told us it was BB all the way, the Ref language doesn't matter, QT was just a minor inconvenience, etc.). I've learned to not blindly trust our SB. I may be in the minority but I think there's a good chance MV may not even be finished on time. At that point we'll let the chips fall where they may. nice response casey.....and yes, there are still plenty of unknowns.... Hey, we agree on something ;D! Seriously, I'm tired of being made out to be the bad guy. As far as I can recall I have never resorted to calling others names on this board (and certainly never calling kids "little monsters"). I try not to play that game and the closest that I came to an insult was yesterday when I called out jenrik and offered him/her a good riddance. I'm disappointed in many of the decisions that our current SB has made. I'm not going to sit back and keep my mouth shut. I encourage others to become educated on the issues and stay involved. Just because I live in Tall Grass doesn't make me evil. I shouldn't be made out to be the bad guy just because I don't completely support all SB decisions without question. I don't like the fact that we are spending upward of $130M on a high school that is questionable if it is even needed. I don't like the fact that we're spending top-dollar to ensure a 2009 opening date and it will open with a half a building and few facilities/amenities. I don't like the fact that the MV Class of 2012 doesn't get a full, equal HS experience. I don't like the fact that some from the Class of 2012 are being moved. I don't like the fact that siblings will be split between 2 different causing a major disruption for those families involved. I don't like the fact that I can't share these opinions and problems without being crucified because I live in a certain area. I don't like the fact that I feel I can never trust the SB. I don't like the fact that I could add hundreds more of things that I don't like. One needs to recognize the fact that there are good people as well as jerks everywhere (TG, WE, Stonebridge, Brookdale, and even your neighborhood). A neighborhood location simply doesn't define a person and to support of deny support of a SB candidate simply because of where they live is extremely short-sighted and mis-guided. When people can recognize that and let go of some of the anger and animosity they have to some neighborhoods things can change. I will wait until more information becomes available on the candidates before making any decisions. I'd like to hope that I won't support a candidate just because of where they live.

I know Dawn DeSart personally and think very highly of her. I think she would do an excellent job with NO agenda . She is not the type to just follow blindly behind others. That is key in this next election IMO.
Other than that, I have moved on am excited to become a Warrior family. I understand the issues for the parents of the 2012 class and think they have every right to fight for what they believe is right for their kids. Anyone who criticizes that has no right.
BTW , Please sign up to volunteer for the Heart Screenings for our kids! They needs lot of volunteers for both NV and WV!
eta: sorry , just realized this is the wrong section to place this opinion. That's what happens when you don't post for a while!

Consider yourself with more moral fiber than a lot of people because many will simply look at where someone is from to cast a vote...and have said so publicly. Yes, still it is their right and choice.... but the previous charade of the moral high ground has just unraveled yet again. I agree with you that *(#&$'s are everywhere and no neighborhood has a monopoly on them. I look forward to hearing what the new people have to say. For the incumbents, we have meeting minutes and post voting records to go by so far.

That is key in this next election IMO. I agree, and would add that in addition to not following blindly, the person should be very comfortable in questioning fellow board members. I think too much emphasis is being placed on providing a unified appearance to the public. That excuse seems to be a control tool that doesn't serve in the publics best interest.

It stifles debate, discussion and the free flow of ideas.... and some people actually like that fact about it. Yes, it is definitely a control tool/tactic.

No! Say it isn't so ;D! Lacy and Macy both?! You'll cause someone on the green board to have a coronary. nah - they're too busy trying to build the buzz people will vote for no more change ? Of course what many are actually saying is - the music has stopped in this game of musical chairs , and they are quite happy with where they are now - please don't start it again because they might not be next time- then they might become one of us bitter souls. ( like some were before the boundaries /site changed this time but they seem to have forgotten that) - FWIW-- there are many people so fed up with issues ( many different issues - from financial issues / to communication( or lack thereof) / to labeling of communities / to bad information on student headcount / to ignoring some areas / to clandestine behavior --and so much more- they will vote for any change - and anything that doesn't look like the status quo. I just hope all do their homework on all 13 candidates... lots to read thru and listen to coming up. No one will attend everything so we can help each other info wise
