Sure would be nice to have those environ reports about now. I would like to know how far down this diesel oil goes and if trucking away is enough etc. Please oh please fill us in. If they would even pretend to be concerned and then present us with the clean up effort I would feel better. And let's have someone other than Midwest Gen clean it up.

I drove out to the site today. I just turned right under the power lines and it took me right to the MISWESTGEN plant. Let me tell you it was freaking scarey. I thought I was in Frankinstein's Laboritory. It looked worse than the pictures. The deisel energy tank was huge I can't believe that a company would go through the trouble of building such a thing and then only run it once for a couple of hours. The Comed station was horrific. The fence was all covered with barbed wire. Electrical towers were everwhere. I will never send my kids there. Good thing you were so far away from where the school will be built! Give me a break. Would you like a link to the website with actual pictures of the farmland we are purchasing for Metea?

Are those the pictures that show for a majority of the photos the land that AME is keeping for themselves?
DFO was definitely burned a lot more times and for a lot longer hours than what we were told on Jan 22 by our Super. The smart-a$$ snippity emails from the SB President trying to split hairs about it was also unappreciated especially because he was wrong there too with trying to re-qualify what the Super told the public.

I'm not talking DFO Arch, trying to show TRUTHFUL pictures of the site, instead of aerial views of the power lines.

I thought I was in Frankenstein's Laboratory. It looked worse than the pictures. The diesel energy tank was huge I can't believe that a company would go through the trouble of building such a thing and then only run it once for a couple of hours. The Comed station was horrific. Would you like a link to the website with actual pictures of the farmland we are purchasing for Metea? I was standing on the Illinois Prairie Path right in between the ComEd transformers and the Midwest Generation peaker plant. I was five steps from the land the school district is considering purchasing. All that I could see in any direction were power lines, fences, barbed wire, cell towers, concrete, a power station and a fuel tank that may have been forty feet high. Since I was just there, I have no need to see the link to the pictures that overlook the land where we not be building a school and deliberately turn a blind eye to the specific environmental issues that are a concern.

Looks like a majority of this is land we're not buying. No spin there. They should have referenced the superimposed picture of the site-plan layout over the google map. Take the constructive criticism for what it is.

You were actually closer to the retention pond than you were to the school building site which will be on top of where the house currently sits on the land. Talk about spin . You make me dizzy!

Yes, please look at Arch's map. Do you see that little house by Eola Road, just north of Molitor?
That's where the school will be built.

That explains why on the site plan the school looks so darn close to Eola. Because it is! All that crap in the upper corner they need to fence off (with an "if you will" fence) It can't be built on because they want to break ground before it's cleaned up. All that crud up there isn't even scheduled to be removed until later this year. Scheduled being the important word there. And people were complaining that the school was sited too close to 75th st and Rt. 59 at BB! We didn't know how good we had it!!

I agree with you Sleepless on your post. The delay in information concerns me. But yet, if someone other than Midwest Gen cleans it up, it will cost more $$ to the district, no? Wouldn't that bring us closer to the BB site? The district's powerpoint states Midwest Gen is responsible to hand over a safe site. Yikes! What does that really mean?

JWH, Thanks for the line, I've seen those pictures. I'm specifically looking for the 37 acre parcel that we are purchasing from Midwest Gen. I couldn't find that particular land from the link you sent.
