Fasttimes, This is where it would be nice if candidates (who know of this activity) make a statement saying they do not support or condone the behavior. Arch, Dr. Who and Researching. yes I agree. not sure it would go to all the same recipients as the original email ( example email blast statement from MR), but it would at least be out there. I would bet on one coming out this week. But what do I know, I only win at Texsas Holdem and anytime I gamble other than holdem..I lose. I am so sick of this crap. All this negative junk just takes away from what the candidates need to be speaking about (what they want to do to raise the bar for our district) GOD knows, the bar is pretty low right now and needs to be raised. I think M2 is standing on the bar driving it into the mud beneath his sausage like toes. the strong of emails and now this flier -- they are a perfect example of what people need to vote against- even one more day of this nonsense. And for the people involved that I once respected - shame on you for stooping to that level- I thought some of you were above that. What is driving that fear ?

I don't recall seeing Mike's name on the Plaintiff list for the NSFOC lawsuit. Oh wait, FUD doesn't have to be true.. it just has to scare you.

I guess everyone has their preferred method of choosing candidates. Scratching someone off your list just because of who supports them isn't much different that voting for someone for that same reason. My suggestion: do your own research. Make an informed decision because of what the candidate stands for not because of who does or doesn't stand for the candidate. Rural, I agree with you. That is another reason why this FUD flyer is a bit ridiculous to me. In the flyer it states: "Mike Crockett has dropped out of the race to back these four candidates. He is the one who was instrumental in suing the school board when the Metea site was moved to Eola Road. Do Not Vote For: Eric Hepburn Don Moscato Jerry Huang Doug DiFusco" Why the sudden flurry of negative email campaigns/flyers pushing certain candidates telling us who NOT to vote for? This flyer was a joke. If I were one of the 4 "new slate" candidates it endorsed, I'd be embarassed. The scary thing is it's quite possible the candidates may not even know some of this stuff is out there.

All of the negative mud-slinging sucks. I wish things didn't always have to turn into a negative campaign.
That being said, I think everyone should spend a minute looking at the NC17 TV interviews. IF you haven't already done so, I'd encourage you to do so. It will be worth your time. You will learn more about each candidate in their 7 minutes of interview time than any of the other forums combined.
There's a few candidates that you need to watch no more than 2 minutes to decide that there's no way this person should be running a major corporation like our School District. We are choosing a board of directors of a major company. We need educated business people with vision and good financial responsibilty. This is a major turning point in our District and our School Board. We have the opportunity to make a difference here and vote for change.
I am not happy with the status quo and will be voting for change. Four new voices!

I understand the fear that many have of having any block of candidates running together (we have all seen what has happened with the lack of independant thought over the past few years). However, to turn this fear into justification to spread fear and lies about the candidates that you may not support is simply inexcusable. I see Mr Hepburn came out and condemned the negative spirit surrounding some of the tactics we are now seeing from some the desperate folks who look to be trying to hold on to their power. Good for him. You can tell a lot by the company that someone keeps, and several candidates seem to be beholden to some really ugly and desperate folks.

The people who are spreading these stories about the slate of four and making these baseless statements are so obviously reactionary in their rhetoric and behavior. It's the same group that over and over again does the same thing. They act like a bunch of spoiled children. When they don't get their way they do it more. These are the folks who are dividing this district. They are so owned by the administrators and school board it's not even funny. They suck up to them and think they are important. How pathetic. They are busy stirring up emotions when they could actually be doing work that benefits children. How does any of this mean spiritedness help children? What kind of example are they setting for their own children? Do they tell their own kids that they spend their free time writing hateful emails that damage peoples character?

Open Letter to the Residents of District 204 from Mark Rising
Lately I have been receiving questions regarding a number of e-mail messages floating through the district that have linked me with three other candidates as a slate. As I have stated publicly on numerous occasions, I am running individually on my merits and not as part of any group or slate. I am not endorsing any other candidate for school board nor am I accepting endorsements from any of the other candidates. While individuals not associated with my campaign have taken it upon themselves to broadcast messages that are derogatory to other candidates, I want to make it clear to everyone in District 204 that I do not endorse or support any negative campaigning towards individuals, our district, or any of my fellow candidates.
We have an outstanding school district with fantastic teachers, caring parents, and wonderful kids. I have seen these things firsthand and I believe I am highly qualified to help lead our district in the future. I would embrace the opportunity to continue to help all residents of District 204 by winning your vote on April 7th as your school board candidate.
Sincerely,
Mark Rising, Candidate, District 204 School Board

However, based on my ties that remain in the Oakhurst area that continue to provide me with valuable insight, I still will stand on my understanding that he is in the MM fold for sure. But this was a nice form of damage control just the same.
