It is interesting that all women were elected, a big surprise to me. Can it be that the good ol boy M**F**ing disgusted enough women that they wanted a "gentler, kinder" board?

It is interesting that all women were elected, a big surprise to me. Can it be that the good ol boy M**F**ing disgusted enough women that they wanted a "gentler, kinder" board? My opinion is that it was the Bunco/PTA fear/smear angle... Doesn't matter now, we have new "independent thinking" leadership. I'm anxious to hear if they think we do or do not have a budget problem and what, creatively, they can all put forth "independently" to solve it, if it does exist. There are some people in the world that believe if you take a cash advance on a Credit Card and stick the money in a savings account and 'earn' interest that you can count that 'interest' as 'income' without taking into account what the cost of borrowing that money (and paying it back) is in the first place... That is how the district 'justified' having the necessary funding for MVHS last year. According to one winner, in the forums, we are financially fine. I'd like to hear how we are 'fine'.

So true Arch. My point is those that voted for these candidates knowingly have signed up for this regime of decision making knowing we have been warned how much over budget as taxpayers we already are with this new HS. Yep the fear factor of 'they're going to steal YOUR school - obviously worked. So get ready for the referendum to finish it...and my guess is the teachers can expect to have the contract nullified it just keeps getting better doesn't it right...nobody voted for the 4 candidates they thought were most qualified..just protecting their turf...It's funny how we justify things in our mind when our thought process does not match.... btw....The four that are "in" are not the same four I supported.

aurora beacon lists rasmus, piehl, rising and vickers as the winners? According to totals I have (just refreshed/relooked at both Will and Dupage): () = Difference from person above. Rasmus: 4394 Piehl: 4244 (-150) DeSart: 3925 (-319) Vickers: 3858 (-67) Rising: 3738 (-120) J.Huang: 3515 (-223) DiFusco: 2881 (-634) Hepburn: 2802 (-79) Moscatto: 2403 (-399) Strick: 1565 (-838) Wagner: 1482 (-83) Crockett: 1105 (-377) Y.Huang: 1082 (-23) They either fat-fingered Desart and mistakenly omitted her, or she yanked herself out...

I am so disapointed. But again, voter turnout was key. After everything going on in this district, you would think people would want to be informed and vote.
I feel the M2 led board will not go away anytime soon. We needed STRONG voices. I am afraid that what we have is a very weak group that will follow the M2 lead. I can only hope that CV & CB really come out of their shell this time around to take a strong leadership role.

Even 5-2 votes = more of the same.
Again, come tax time, just remember... this is what people voted for...

Steckdad - I don't just make this stuff up- there are emails from PTSA leaders that tell them ' the battle is not over' "someone alert Brookdale the school is not a done deal yet ' - and then very negative things about others most of those people do not know that I won't repeat again here. because I send my child to private school it get this kind of comment on face book - ( and the person thought I lived in the 'south' ) "Rich snobby people...oh, did I say that out-loud?" But you tell me they were getting the vote out for the most qualified....and the division doesn't exist. you can pretend this doesn't exist ( and I wish it didn't) but sorry - documentation from people rallying the troops says otherwise. You're telling me the group elected is the most qualified to run a $270M business facing serious financial issues in tough economic times.- seriously ? Did some vote for their favorites - sure. Did some vote for Dawn because they believe she can help the district's communication - yep. But unless miss read the resumes - the most qualified to run a district this size - uh uh.............

Maybe I've watched too many cop shows on TV, but I always thought the bunco squad was something completely different! I'm not sure what the exact SB plans are for resurrecting the financial advisory group, but I would think Mark Rising and Jerry Huang would both be able to contribute something.

You see an email, etc. and In your mind the scare tactics won the election? This kind of garbage is always going to exist. You have a brain, you know it's garbage, why can't others see that? I did want one person in with some financial background, but that didn't happen. but since you asked.. I look at the SD as a $3500 investment. Am I getting a good return on the investment right now? yes. The future is yet to be seen except by a few here who are ruing the day before it even comes...

Am I getting a good return on the investment right now? yes. The future is yet to be seen except by a few here who are ruing the day before it even comes... However an email is not 'just' an email when it comes from PTSA officers warning of dire consequences now is it ? Most people in the district do not have the depth of knowledge of what goes on that you and I have- so they take it for gospel. Then these notes go out to mass distributions. You're telling me they had no effect on the outcome ? I know you do not believe that. An email from some unknown person is not going to have that effect - I agree - but that isn't what happened was it ? Now investment wise- maybe that is where we differ. I am getting zero return on my investment of much more than $3500. Not only am I getting zero return, because of inequities my child would have faced I had to take on another $9000 of expense - so my ROI is a nightmare. My child would not get all the same opportunites as the kids in WV and NV next year. Also would have 2-3 times the travel she has today...to go to and from. Maybe not a big deal to you - but it was to me, and I am not alone. As far as the future, if you doubt the debt coming - talk to Dave Holm - others have. Ask him if the debt 4 years from now is real or imagined. It's his chart.

Steckdad,
" You have a brain, you know it's garbage, why can't others see that?"
Because a large number of people who really don't pay attention don't even know where MV is located and they believe M2 left the school board last month. IE: They are clueless as to the truth and often just go by what someone else tells them or what they read especially when it comes from someone who is in a position of perceived authority.

If I get a random email I typically ignore it -- if I get one from an officer in my company, I tend to believe it's contents as I do not have time to research everything -- same thing happened here.

Looks like Jerry missed by 190 votes. When I see that Y Huang received over 1,000 votes (20% of the winner and 25% of the 4th place vote getter), I can not help but wonder if some people mixed the two up. Regardless, I think that we really missed out as a community not having someone with Jerry's background on the board. When MM resigns, really would love to see the board appoint Jerry ...............................

Here is my concern - the continuing north / south divide.
Sue, Cathy go 1, 2 in DuPage, but 8, 7 in Will.
Dawn was everyone's #5 pick; Chris was #4 in DuPage, #6 in Will.
Jerry, Doug, Eric, Don go 1, 2, 3, 4 in Will, but 6, 7, 8, 9 in DuPage.
The DuPage vs. Will Co. % splits are equally concerning:
Sue: 14.1% vs. 7.8% Cathy: 13.4% v. 8.1% Dawn: 11.4% vs. 9.3% Chris: 11.7% vs. 8.3%
By comparison, the biggest DuPage vs. Will Co. split in 2007 was Calcaterra, at 1.0% ( 10.7% vs. 9.7%). The splits for all the other candidates were less than 1%.
My point is, we seem to be growing farther apart as a district. I'm hoping there are good people on both sides who recognize this, and are willing to be proactive in addressing it.
