This forum has recently come undercriticism from a few blogs, editorials and private email lists.
Does anyone have any concrete suggestions to make this forum "better"?

I've always been a fan of nice big face to face Meet-N-Greets.
Diametrically opposed opinions usually smooth over and stay more civil when we can all attach a face to the 'handle'.
Naturally, anyone is welcome to come, but I also think the most vocal, long time and frequent posters should all show up. No names have to be exchanged if one cares not to, but wear a name tag w/ your handle on it.
It works wonders on many other boards.

I would attend this and believe this might be a good idea since one of the criticism's is the anonymity - we can address that one easily.....the one 'meet' attended a long time ago at Quigley's was quite interesting....

If ALL posters actually came, it would be real interesting...... At every one I've ever been to for various clubs/boards, almost everyone is surprised to see who actually is the face behind the handle: People just like them who feel as strongly about their opinion as they do. The rest of the 'crap' usually just drops away at that point, and constructive discussion usually comes from it. Let's start a 'call out'. Obviously, where/when would be entirely up to who chimes in as being interested, then suggestions (dates/times/place) can be solicited after we at least have a show of hands and a rough idea of the headcount we're talking about. Just quote or cut/paste and add your name to the bottom. So, in so far: DrWho Archwinsome

Maybe if we get some other sides of the coin there we can take a group photo (again, no names) and send it to Mr. Zimmerman w/ the caption: "See, we can all just get along" and he can write a new article about how different points of view can all pull together and be civil and he can issue a nice retraction about his article that was based on no first-hand information to begin with.
Maybe I dream too much...

I am not one of the most vocal, long time and frequent posters but have been reading for quite a while. Please count me in and I will bring a friend that is mostly a reader as well. I am looking forward to meeting many of you face to face.

Oh, and as far as suggestions for improvement of the board, I'd love to figure out the time settings on this thing. I didn't change anything during the early daylight savings time period and one computer displays one time and another displays a different one.
