That's the criteria I'd like to see - no one gets worse than their 2nd choice. As many as can get their closest school- more power to them, but no one should get #3. Amen. That is fair. Let's hope the proposal submitted to us on Feb. 12th reflects this very thought.

Let's hope the proposal submitted to us on Feb. 12th reflects this very thought. This can be interpreted multiple ways.. Is the distance from one school to another or the 'neighborhood' ? An example: LS to Watts. Distance from Watts or distance from the neighborhood (behind Meijer) ? Personally, I would say from the neighborhood since that is where their HS commute starts. People do not go to their ES in the morning to catch the bus to HS.

I see this as an equitable way to work through the situation as well. Either that or a truck load of Tardi (is that plural for Tardis?)

I wish everyone could have their #1 = so surely nothing wring with wishing for it, and I would not be jealous of a single ES that got their number 1- as long as I don't get #3. If I get #3 though just so someone can have #1 - that will tick me off. If everyone gets 1 or 3 -- that's not part of a hierarchal distribution I want to be a part of.

Okay, paranoia is starting to set in. Welch is circulating an email stating that the Fry community has a petition going to boot Welch out and keep Fry in NV. I personally find this laughable as I know nothing of a petition and I have many friends in the area. Why in the world would Fry do that? What would be accomplished by such a petition? NOTHING. If anything, it would hurt the Fry community much more than help. IMO this is just another attempt to vilify the Fry area and polarize the Welch community to work AGAINST Fry in the boundary wars. How disappointing but predictable. Pitting ES against ES is never acceptable. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

As was discussed with the SB emails, this could have been written by anyone to make others look bad. I hope I never see that email. Those are the types of things that just make the whole district look bad.

Probably someone reading this blog (moving Welch has been mentioned here several times) and someone believes us bloggers have the power to make it happen so naturally they think "let's blame Fry" and that's how problems start. Someone takes an innocent comment and gets paranoid and starts a panic.

How disappointing but predictable. Pitting ES against ES is never acceptable. I have a feeling this is just the beginning. Unless I missed something in the boundary criteria, I am not sure what it would accomplish - as I saw nothing that said volumes of emails - or quantity of sognatures would accomplish anything. If there is a solid boundary proposal they said they would listen and review ( deadline Noon tomorrow)- I hardly see how a petition would qualify as a quality proposal. I agree with others though - before anyone jumps to conclusions 1/ I doubt any group is organized enough to remotely represent any community 2/Even if somehow one found out the email started in one community - remember it started with one person - don't hold everyone accountable. You are right in that the next few weeks are likely to be very ugly. Last time there were indeed emails pitting one group against another - one area against another etc. . They had one thing in common - they are all lousy. Last time there were even emails circulating that were started that were false -- The best thing one can do in my opinion is do not forward them on anywhere --or else they eventually work themselves around - when someone passes it to a distrib list they have for scouts or soccer or whatever - and eventually it upsets someone. And realistically- does anyone think lobbying in that manner is going to influence anyone on the board or admin ?

From dr who- ...."And realistically- does anyone think lobbying in that manner is going to influence anyone on the board or admin ?"..
-------
Only an incredibly naive and unsophisticated person who uses faulty reasoning would think a petition would influence the SB/SD! ('i have more names on my petition than you do on your petition!'... nyah, nyah!)

('i have more names on my petition than you do on your petition!'... nyah, nyah!) Take a look at the video of the SB meeting at approximately 1:55:30. BG goes into grueling detail about how he tabulated the comments on the Eola site, and determined 71% wanted the SB to approve the site. They are absolutely influenced by the volume of comments/emails. ipsdweb.ipsd.org/News.aspx?id=17332

There are too many bright people on the SB not to know the ballot box was stuffed from one area...quickly mobilized for that email effort as well as entries here and on the Sun blog for a short period of time.

Yes, and we will hear about that statistic from now until eternity. The SB knows they made the right decision because 71% supported it... Next headline in the Sun: 90% support new boundaries!

I would think they have every student's address, and have it programmed into their special 'transportation' software.. or how else would we get our individual busing plan before school starts every year! - thinking 'eminent domain' could work in this area(maybe not a republican stronghold anymore, but still conservative!) -crying school board members at SB meetings- i think i saw that twice!..... i could go on, and on.... ;D
