Looks like 204 put up a new Subdivision List and Building Capacities documents. ipsdweb.ipsd.org/News.aspx?id=17433And they included Century Trace, but don't have breakdowns by grade level...

It seems this has been out since 1/29/08? ? How did we miss it? If you ask, they may have it broken down further. If you get it, please share with the rest of us.

Since I had their eyes last week, I'm going to give them a couple that are void of any 'exceptions' and that utilize one single criteria.
* No one goes to the farthest school.
It seems that every other 'rule' people throw out there has exceptions. If they pick any of what I submit, I'll own up to it.

Did anyone take alook at building capacities?
I always thought White Eagle was 650 and they have it as 850. There are 606 kids in the school now and there are not empty rooms??
I recall specifically the SB stating that Hill's capacity was 900 and Gregory was 1000 when they discussed capacity before the ref in 06.
Does anyone else see a strange number related to their school?

Does anyone else see a strange number related to their school? Watts they have listed the raw capacity (850ish). Currently one whole wing is devoted to 'basics' programs. With that there, it can only operate around it's current 550-600ish level. I'd gather that somewhere along the line these numbers are being misused either ignorantly or purposely.

I'd gather that somewhere along the line these numbers are being misused either ignorantly or purposely. That is a good point. Each school may have different capacities due to what they currently have in them. So again, we are provided with "data" that the school board is using but then not told how to use it to make our own boundaries. How convenient for them. Same with the subdivision list. I admire anyone who is going through that list and trying to figure out where each subdivision is on the map as it relates to each school. Ain't gonna happen in my house, that's for sure. Just reinforces my belief that they already have the boundaries in place. Maybe this data is out there so they can justify their placement of schools come Feb. 12th or to make us feel like we are contributing. Hah!

They have Scullen listed at 1200. As far as I recall, we're up to almost 1500 (I think the last I saw was 1481). I wish we were at only 1200 but I can tell you it "ain't so".

Yes, I called them too and they are WAY over capacity - I was told capacity was about 1250. Same with Still and I think Granger - they're all the same layout.

Looking at the enrollment numbers and projecting All Day K, there are obviously gonna be changes at the ES level. Some schools, like Welch and Fry for instance are over capacity and they have 5 sections of K, that's potentially five addt'l classrooms needed at each.
The SD is going to have to move out some of their attendance areas to accomodate ADK.

Looks like 204 put up a new Subdivision List and Building Capacities documents. ipsdweb.ipsd.org/News.aspx?id=17433And they included Century Trace, but don't have breakdowns by grade level... Thanks for the capacity info! Looks like this option could work. The northern middle schools would still be crowded, but as a whole the district would improve it's overcrowding, and still keep middle schools together. These numbers are based on the current enrollment numbers on the district website. Elem. school Current pop. Middle school Waubonsie Valley High School Steck 663 Still Owen 561 Still STILL ENROLLMENT =920 Georgetown 615 Still Gombert 528 W. Gold Springbrook 667 W. Gold W. I see Longwood Elementary is currently over capacity, and Brooks has room to grow, maybe if some of Longwood went to Brooks, and then for middle school went to Granger that could help. It would help the numbers, and seems to be closer proximity for the southwest portion of the Longwood area. Just a thought!

Proschool I am at WE. I know all about the addition and all I can say is they have 600 kids and no empty classrooms. I can't imagine where they would put 200 more kids or approx 6-8 more classrooms of kids there.
When my oldest was there, before the addition, they had 600 kids and no art and no music and PA was in the LMC etc... the addition gave them back an art and music room and gave PA a room etc., but the addition is fully used now.

Just a thought! no problem - we'll just saddle them kids up here for that 1 1/2 a day on the bus - after spending one of the longest commutes in the district for MS- hey at least they'll be used to it - it's a shame they don't get frequent flier (rider) miles for bus rides- at least they'd get a trip out of this or something who's going to break the news to McCarty ( especially the walkers) that they get to travel north but their immediate neighbor ( and far closer to AME than Cowl or Watts) Steck gets to stay @ WVHS ? But you likely got yourself into NVHS so my kids surely won't mind riding the bus for hours knowing that. And 1045 @ Hill ? No problem - there are kids that cant eat lunch in the cafeteria todau and only 920 kids in the school-- 125 more should be no problem. yep- looks real fair to me
