I believe Dash said they won't split grade schools unless N Welch won't be going to Welch anymore. Plus this really means squat until we see the grade school boundaries first. Well, they are also promising AME will open in 2009. I see you can create polls on this board. Maybe we should create one where people can vote for which month we will find out that is not a reality. And then add one for what the excuse will be. Sorry, I just can't seem to break away from that date promise as a major positive for AME. I might need professional help Isn't falling in a ditch an acceptable excuse? Why would they have to even explain the reasons that the school won't open in 2009? Well, we wuz just walkin' along and this big ditch called "environmental remediation" just opened up and we fell right in! GOLLY darn, we coulda never per-dicted it!

I am so worn out from all of this; the waiting, the decision, everything. I think I will go on a long vacation and come back to what will finally be official. I'm about there. I've voiced my concerns, think the site itself is an instant gratification knee-jerk that will screw us over in the long run but hey.. it's not my vote or credibility on the line, it's theirs.

If they move that part of Welch, where do they go to grade school?

Daeschner also said we "can't afford" bb. Funny that the other half of that statement is that we "can't afford" any land at all. Actually I believe he said not splitting schools was an "objective" of setting boundaries. which is different than saying they won't split grade schools.

If they move that part of Welch, where do they go to grade school? anywhere within a 40 minute bus ride is fair game it appears

My theory that they want an 09 opening is so they can get the school up and running and then in 2010 say if we do not pass the ref we will cut all the HS staff to keep the 3rd HS up and running.

Assuming Ames is the site, I think the Informant’s proposed boundaries are pretty much right on. I posted essentially these same boundaries yesterday just by looking at a map, considering ES enrollments, and making logical choices. The only thing I had different, was I had all of Welch going to NV. According to my calculation, this still only got NV up to 39% of the population, but overall does a nice job of approaching the 40/30/30 split without any ridiculous commutes.
One question I do have though…. both the Informant and myself had Steck going to Ames. Would this violate the walker-stay-walkers guideline? I know Steck is very close to WV.
If it does, then I really do see a problem with finding enough kids to fill the 30% at Ames without tapping into Owen. To me, tapping into Owen does cross the line into the “ridiculous commute” arena.
Can someone shed some light on the Steck question?

I think they are going to really reconfigure the grade school boundaries in that area. Any area that needs busses to get to a grade school is ripe for a change.
I was going to start looking at bus routes for those grade schools to see for some logical choices.

Yes, agreed. The moving of the operational ref to after opening of MVHS seems to be another part of this well orchestrated program. You have hand it to Dr. D he came in with a plan to work us like a fiddle. He has all worried about boundaries while his other hand is sneaking all this by us. I might not agree with all this but he is good. I have a dream where we get to vote again.. I think I will live in that world for awhile.

So another 5 minutes south of me becomes ridiculous-- what are we then - semi ridiculous as far as a commute-- 1 1/2 on a bus and yes worse yet for Owen 1 hr 45 mins on a bus is ridiculous -- maybe they should teach 2 periods of class on the damn bus -- save even more space. Maybe AP Civil Engineering and Traffic Management

There will never be another referendum passed in 204 after what we have seen from Dine n Dash. With no operational money, it means that we will end up with another white elephant in 204 just like Petersen but this one will sitting on PCB filled land with no students or teachers.

Agree Avenging Eagle
My money tree has died. No more for 204!
And it rhymes as well.
It's private school for my children. This district is going down the tubes.

They are very good at getting us to vote yes and then when it is all done we do not get what we voted for. I learned this with freshman center ref. They try and scare the community with horrible consequences if we don't vote they way they want us to vote.
They put us in this mess. I could not vote yes to the last ref. due to the land issue. Now we are in this mess. They have are money and now it doesn't matter what we think/feel. No public commit. They have shut us out.
I still find it funny that a nothern site is selected and most of the board and the super are from the north. It is such a lie that this site causes the least disruption. Macom and Hamman make more sense. Look where the crowded MS are. In the south!!!
