Avenging Eagle:
If it goes like Peterson they'll end up closing WV and sending everyone to MV.
Talk about some long commutes then...

You really think they would close the HS?
They would cut costs first. Dash would raise the classroom size by cutting back on teachers and then go for extra circular activities. There is no way they are going to close a HS after opening it.

If you really want me to get my conspiracy theory engine going I have often wondered if this was not part of a some master plan to close WVHS. I know, I know this would require someone who is able to create a master plan But this is not the first time I have wondered something like this. Okay, I will take my tinfoil hat off now...

archwinsome:
Just put it out there because we had Wheatland pulled on us, and if you think MV is going to follow that model then closing WV would fit.
Could they do this? Very slim chance short term, long term If enrollment keeps dropping who knows?

Avenging Eagle: If it goes like Peterson they'll end up closing WV and sending everyone to MV. Talk about some long commutes then... Excellent point! Actually this is one of the screaming shortcomings in the SD's analysis bullet points. Once our district's enrollment recedes, the long term vision is to shut down the old WV and use the new MV...so why would anyone want a future 2 high-school district 204 to have one of the 2 high schools on an off ramp of I-88?

Very slim chance short term, long term If enrollment keeps dropping who knows? They will close the NV freshman campus before they close a HS. 8100 students 3 3000 HS still 90% capacity Sell WV freshman campus and pay down the debt of the new HS.

To be fair, if the enrollment declines like the people who write LTE's believe maybe we have to pull kids in from Sugar Grove to fill it. Talk about convenient! Heck, some might take Modaff to 75th to Naper Blvd to I88 then head west to eola to get to school.

FINAL BOUNDARIES
MVHS Brookdale Longwood Brooks Young Watts Cowlishaw Steck
WVHS Gombert McCarty Georgetown Owen White Eagle Welch Clow
NVHS Fry Peterson Springbrook Builta Kendall Graham Patterson
This is what it will really look like when you divide the school into a North section, a Central section and a South section.

No idea of the numbers, but just for grins...
MVHS Brookdale Longwood Brooks Young Steck McCarty
WVHS Peterson Fry Welch (all) White Eagle Gombert Georgetown Cowlishaw
NVHS Watts Owen (same attendance area won't be in place anyway) Graham Kendall Builta Patterson Springbook Clow
OR
Move Watts and Owen to WV and send Fry/Peterson to NV.
Or keep the Gold campus at WV and send everyone above 95th street and below Ogden there.
Or if we really want equity across all worlds so everyone shuts up - split campuses so WV = Freshman/Soph and NV = Junior/Sr. The Frontier campus is a lab for upper classmen. And have the northern site be a magnet school for math/science/technology. Or agriculture. They can have a whole semester in soil testing.
I wonder what letsgetcreative can come up with this time!!

Not even on the skewed boundary maps are we north doctorwho - you are completely swimming up stream here. You are north of 75th, so that makes you part of the north section. The fact that you are on the east side of the district is pointless since WVHS and MVHS are on the west side of the district. Clearly under no option will you be going to NVHS, and since you are part of Hill MS with Brookdale and Longwood (Clear MVHS schools based on the AME location) you will be at MVHS due to enrollment needs. Get over it!
