from dr. who-..."great - so we are an academic anchor for Hill and MV - yet we are not wealthy enough ( as we round about were told at WVHS orientation night) to equal off WV and NV money wise so we get thrown out of there. Those are 'great' reasons to ship us to the far end of the district. Unbelievable. as I sat there with 8 other parents-kids from Watts - the head of the booster club told us about how they raised $60K last year and opened a new weight room, BUT, the new boundaries would likely allow WVHS to better compete equipment wise etc. with the Neuqua's of the world. How would you take that comment ? for those of us leaving - those replacing us can raise more money. Nice huh ?" ============ amazing that the SB/SD would think that the 'replacements' would be involved enough to '..raise more money.." - a fatal assumption!

Maybe they should have used Southeastern, Northeastern, Southwestern ;D would have been better than trying to use a map to portray a fairly even split of northern - central- southern, where the northern 1/3 makes up approx. 50% of the land area Next referendum we need to allow money for a cartographer so we have a real map. This one done like the famous New Yorker mag covers Then Waubonsie moves from central to the newly created Western sector ( to avoid any central confusion with those 2 areas east of them - Watts-Cowl) - who were on a tetonic plate that shifted to the north

Your overall clusters in the north would attend Metea (Valley,) the majority of clusters in the center would go to Waubonsie (Valley) and a majority in the southern end would attend Neuqua (Valley)," Metzger said. "Obviously that won't work in every single scenario because some clusters overlap, but that's how a majority of the students will decide which school they will attend. Key word "MAJORITY". IMO it will be the majority of south 95th just not PET or FRY. How in the world can a student living all the way down by 103rd not be considered "southern"? If the SB is using the terminology of northern, central, and southern then make the boundaries reflect that! MW shouldn't be considered North and FRY shouldn't be considered Central. I know boundaries haven't come out but that's what I'm expecting to see and it's just wrong, wrong, wrong! Use a true geographical line and don't gerrymander the lines to work. This isn't Chicago wards we're talking about! My feelings exactly!!!

I can tell you my area has been heavily involved there for my 20 years there, and now we are gone - and now except for stay at home Moms/Dads, travel wise we have been carved out of the same opportunites @ MV. Having to take vacation time to get there for concessions etc isn't going to fly.

great - so we are an academic anchor for Hill and MV - yet we are not wealthy enough ( as we round about were told at WVHS orientation night) to equal off WV and NV money wise so we get thrown out of there. Those are 'great' reasons to ship us to the far end of the district. Unbelievable. The announcement also said nothing about academic balance. So that doesn't necessariy mean anyone will be the academic "anchor" anywhere. The article was very generic though and I'm certain left a lot out. It doesn't even make sense what they said about minimal splits at the middle school - not more than one. What does that mean? How could you split from your middle school twice? Wondering if that was a typo. Geography and Logic...I think that might be in the eye of the beholder... I have to self-correct - I guess it did say something about academic balancing.

I'm sorry, is this parent on the school board currently? As far as I know, the Head of the Booster Club at WVHS was not allowed to vote at board meetings.

----------------- hardly, 'some' booster parent speaking stupidly-- head of the boosters??!! I'm sorry, is this parent on the school board currently? --------------- no.. but he/she somehow 'knows' who the future boosters will be.. and their ability to support ($$$)- how does this person know that unless he/she is in the 'loop'?

Look, I'm not saying it wasn't an idiotic comment. I'd be pissed to--and have every right to be since my kids will probably be attending MV, but we're doing it again. Taking something one person said and turning it into a blanket opinion for an entire area.

Then explain the "new Waubonisie to us " we have heard how we have to change 'perception" - how does that happen when the new boundaries leave the school 3rd in academics --? The SB/SD is intent on changing this perception- I believe they may end up widening the issue, not fixing it. Do you believe he made that up on his own - didn't hear it anywhere else ?
