I'm looking some more at these times, and they are really out there. 22 minutes from Gombert to WV? Is that by camel? Horse-drawn carriage? by jackass heck, gotta make it look like the pain is shared.....

Owen East to NV West to WV
If you did this then you have too many at WV and NV and not enough at MV. It is unfortunate and I definately don't have the answer. Currently kids in Ginger Woods (approx. Farnsworth and Butterfield) have that same commute to WVHS as Owen may have.
I don't live in either but feel for both.[/quote]
I agree. I would like to see a better fit for Owen East, but I am not sure of the solution. Otherwise I think it is an OK proposal, although I understand the other concerns.
I also think that CB, JC and JS from Owen going to MV adds some credibility to the proposal.

Three questions for the rockets scientists at the Howie's Crouse Ed Center:
1). How much will the average transportation time per student change under this scenario?
2). If we shorten the commute time from Watts / Owen / others by adding busses, that implies fewer students per bus, so how much extra are we going to pay for that?
3). If we've raised the transportation times, aren't we more susceptable to snow days, or partial days caused by all the busses running late?

Northern parts of Mcc and/or Steck would have to be assigned to MV. I actually think those area would be a good fit at MV. Comments from these areas would be welcomed.

My quick-look check/summary (with editorial comments withheld ): 1. Enrollments, including growth, balance pretty well. 2. Split MS at Scullen (NV/WV) and Still (WV/MV). Scullen has ~50/50 split, but Still looks to be only ~35% MV. (I assume this gets worse when Ashwood growth kicks in) 3. Test scores: MV=91.5 WV=89.0 NV=93.7 4. Low inc MV=7.1 WV=7.2 NV=0.9 Actually if you consider the Gombert portion to MV has few low inc, I think in reality you can add couple tenths to the WV value and substract same from MV (approximately). But not big change either way.

TG was a little, if you will, vocal at some of the boundary meetings from the last go-round. I think that impression has stayed. Hell yes, we were vocal. Why wouldn't we be? Every single initial proposal had us at NV and then lo and behold everything changed and we were moved to BB. The boundary plans then smacked of politics and unfortunately I still think those politics play here. Let me ask you this, gumby, will your child be on a bus for over an hour each day headed over an at-grade crossing with a ton of traffic? Will your ES be an island at the MS? Will your child have their entire MS go to a different HS than EVERYONE else? Will you have an kid that is supposed to change schools and fit in at a "new Waubonsie?" Sorry but I think that sucks. IMO, three areas got the real screw here and that's FRY, PET (minus Tamarack), and OWEN but hey let's just take one for the team. Flat out BS! By the way, there's a lot of good people in this neighborhood just like in Buttonwood.

Will your ES be an island at the MS? Will your child have their entire MS go to a different HS than EVERYONE else? If it helps any, casey, my calcs show Scullen as pretty much 50/50 split. Fair to both sides. Now Owen's MS breakdown on the other hand...they do have this problem you describe. EDIT: sorry casey, my bad! My spreadsheet didnt figure the Peterson/Scullen portion going to NV. I think you indeed have point here.
Yes, the ugly Peterson 3 way split is blowing my mind (and spreadsheet!) . (we need mind-blowing smiley face icon here!)OK fixed spreadsheet. Looks like the 50/50 split still holds. Thats good, thats the way it should be. (I am not going to sharpen my pencil any further on this.
