I think if someone made a reasonable proposal for a change, they may consider it.
Some assignments do seem a bit out there....

I wonder if they didn't do this ridiculous proposal as a straw man. That way, even though we'll compromise on another crappy (albeit maybe not so craptacular) solution, people will think they at least had a say.
I just don't think the board and the district are that smart though.

I think Owen being assigned to MV is ridiculuous, and I don't like what they did with Peterson (splitting them between 3 middle schools).

Has anyone compared these results with informants list? Just curious.

Although, given the SW side reputation how do you approach the board without sounding like an ungrateful classist? That I could use some advice on.

I'm convinced that the board will not hear of it. If you look at some of the other shifts that they've done and their likely motivations, even discussing such things would be incredibly un-PC.

You make the numbers work and you make it 'fair' so fairness can be applied to every single area.

The last district our super did this to lost their case in the supreme court after he left and came here. Our SB needs to keep that in mind as an unforeseen 'cost'.

Although, given the SW side reputation how do you approach the board without sounding like an ungrateful classist? That I could use some advice on. That's what I think too. Can you imagine all the friends and influence I'll have standing up stating my name and TG neighborhood (they shut off at that point) then continuing on to complain about boundaries being unfair? We end up with over a 30 minute commute and we are an island at the MS (only ES going to WV) I just don't understand how you can say geography and then finagle it to fit your plans. To me, if you were going to use 59 that should be all of it (Tamarack, Tamarack West, Ashwood Creek, Ashwood Park, Century Trace, etc.). How do you explain why some areas go to NV and others at WV. How is that fair!?

again Casey I am in complete agreement with you. All you have to say is I am from TG and they tune you out. We are stereo typed per the SB, this way it is so easy for them to stick it to us. All west of 59 should be going to WV.

This whole map is a mess! Peterson not at Crone, and split for middle school? Grahm driving over Tamerack to get to Crone, while Tamerack goes to Scullen. Tamerack will be split from friends at both the elementary and middle school levels. Fry the only school pulled from Scullen to go to WVHS. Fry, Peterson, Owen, Young, Cowlishaw and Watts all on the bus for over an hour a day .Fry with a walking bridge to NVHS will be on a bus for about 11 hours a week to WVHS. Gombert split, going past WVHS to get to MVHS? How about Welch? 79th street down to Scullen and NVHS, with 103rd going North to WVHS? ? There are no North, Central, South boundaries here. There are 2 middle schools in the North and Central, 3 in the south. That is how the boundaries should be done. There were several proposals that worked that way. There is no room left for growth at NVHS. What happened to that critera? This is social engineering. Not what is best for the kids

But, in this area--the wild randomness of the boundaries--everyone seems to be potentially an equal opportunity screwee.
