I was reading the Sun blog (don't know why I do as it is very hurtful) and noticed a post that said, "no matter what happens , no one from TG should be allowed to set foot in NVHS or the new high school" . I find that comment to be very infuriating. I think WVHS deserves better. First the Brookdale folks demonstrated their desire to get out and now bloggers insinuate that being sent to WVHS is a punishment. This all needs to stop. All of our schools are excellent. Stop reading the Sun Blog! It's poinsonous.

I would be very cautious about what the SB does next. I have no insight but would be surprised if they immediately selected a site (BB) that would make the same people happy that they feel have made their life miserable. I would expect them to be vindictive before they would give in. That seems to be how they operate. Oh, I don't know. Maybe they'll just file a counterclaim against NSFOC for the difference in the cost between the two sites as a result of the deal falling though because of them. (Not really going to happen, I do realize that. ) you give NSFOC too much credit. They did not cause this to fall through. The school board did. Many people (including myself) were not a member of NSFOC but felt the northern site wasn't in our best interest if deemed unsafe. IMO, it was deemed unsafe by the fact that Midwest Gen pulled out for fear of lawsuits...they must have known there was that potential. Regarding NSFOC...Which is it? Some posts indicate NSFOC is a small group of nobodys and the next post they have caused the whole deal to fall through!

Will this be the end of the NSFOC? They don't have a case now that Eola is off of the table. And the other lawsuit by the Entitled 9? That should dissolve quickly.

The site is fine for what it was used for...and the substances found on it were consistent with 'that type' of site, just like the experts said. The ONLY ones who tried to MAKE this a school site are the SD-SB --- so if you're looking for liability in this - the arrow points there. The comments from MWGEN have been consistent all along - they obviosuly got some excellent legal counsel as to what to say, and when. Smart.

I think part of their case (a big part) was the bait and switch ....that still exists with any site other than BB. eta: and I must say that is the part that has always gotten my goat...we were told all along we could afford worst case and then when worst case happened we walked. I do have a problem with that.

I think you want the Sun Blog.... BINGO....No one has won anything.....the only decision is that Midwest Generation is not selling their polluted land to 204....no other decision has been made....Dad204, why are you so angry? Angry, yes. That a few people who wanted their school on their terms have messed this up for everyone else's kids. Pollution was NEVER the real issue for the majority of the No School crowd, but was definitely a stronger argument than just whining that they didn't want to go to WV. The technology for cleaning up lands like this is extremely advanced and done all the time. Just got off the phone with a friend who is a No School supporter. Her view is the WV is so far from her house. Looked at distances and my son travels almost as far just to get to Middle School.

Bottom line - We can not afford to build a comprehensive HS on the BB property. Other school districts have shared stadiums, pools etc. (South Elgin). So if you want BB so bad, are you also willing to settle for a school that does not have all the bells and whistles? OK - in all fairness, NV is out the bell - so are you ok without the whistles What about not purchasing the full 80 acres (taking into account we already own 25) Many local schools sit on roughly 60 acres and have full facilities. How many acres is WVHS on? How many acres are Nap. North and Central on? We can probably get 40 acres from Calvary. That will make 65. If we share parking facilities with Calvary it could save 10 more. Buy the water retention form Thatcher's Grove and Chicory Place and replace the two adjacent small lakes with one big lake. That can might save you the additional 5.

Odd... This letter from MWGEN comes from a VP of technical services... Searching for his history, it looks like he consummates agreements with another version of their company on a slip of paper.. not land deals.. www.secinfo.com/dVut2.1gZ5.v.htm"BACKGROUND Fred W. McCluskey has been Vice President of Midwest Generation, LLC since July 1999. Mr. McCluskey has been vice president of Technical Service and Partnership Management of Edison Mission Energy since January 2003. From August 2000 to January 2003, Mr. McCluskey was vice president of Business Management. From November 1998 to August 2000, Mr. McCluskey was regional vice president of Business Development." investing.businessweek.com/businessweek/research/stocks/private/person.asp?personId=10159311Hmm... I need to do some more digging to figure out their angle (MWGEN's), but they mentioned a potential sale as being a threat to their business interests and reputation.
