I'm always a pessimist, but I'm not sure this site is dead. My read of Mid West's letter is that there was a tentative agreement that was, from the beginning, scheduled to expire on April 9, unless a deal was consummated. That would have been about 90 days from the date it was originally signed. Since we have no deal by the deadline, the agreement simply expired. today's letter was not necessary, just a courtesy. The reference to community unrest may be to swing public opinion. The last paragraph indicates that they are still willing to sell if we decide to buy. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think this is dead. The $$ from this deal is a spec of dust in their petty-cash drawer so I am not sure what incentive they would ever have to sell it. I would venture a guess that their legal department would axe anything else in the future. More than anything, I think it was a well written letter to allow everyone to save face.

...If it were me I'd buy BB tomorrow and start construction on Monday. This has gone far enough. I said that right after the verdict. We'd have been digging in Oct and have a shell by now.. but no.. that was too much money and yet we were told all along that we could afford worst case scenario. That is the part that really gets me.

Bottom line - We can not afford to build a comprehensive HS on the BB property. Other school districts have shared stadiums, pools etc. (South Elgin). So if you want BB so bad, are you also willing to settle for a school that does not have all the bells and whistles? OK - in all fairness, NV is out the bell - so are you ok without the whistles What about not purchasing the full 80 acres (taking into account we already own 25) Many local schools sit on roughly 60 acres and have full facilities. How many acres is WVHS on? How many acres are Nap. North and Central on?

Wonder if they will try to get AME to sell all their land and just adjust site plan?

I believe that Naperville Cen tral is on less than 30 acres.

There is buzz on the green board that something is going to be announced tomorrow regarding a site. Could it be that we will buy more from AME?

I believe that Naperville Cen tral is on less than 30 acres. Central uses sport fields across West Street and in the other direction as well at Knoch Park. That's how they manage.

That said, do we really think that they would want their church on land next to unremediated land, pipelines, powerlines, etc.? I certainly hope that the school board goes back to square 1 and does a thorough due diligence this time around.

That said I think it would be unwise to start making transportation plans to BB or any south site for that matter. IMO, the district will make a play for AME.

Too much ego at stake here to admit a mistake.

Oh I think it was sooooo professional for the name calling (NOT). Anyone who can't control their temper and use name calling shouldn't be in charge of anything. To loose control in front of the public really makes you look unprofessional and stupid. M2 will NEVER live that down. O.K., in M2's defense, I did get a chuckle out of ninkompoop - can you really call that name calling? I think Katherine Hepburn called Henry Fonda that in On Golden Pond. It's kind of an endearing term, really, isn't it? It's an unprofessional word but I can't really call it namecalling.

Yes I can call that name calling, and did. Katherine Heburn and Henry Fonda have a much different relationship then M2 and Collins; the context is way different too.

I don't trust the SB at all and they will do their best to screw over certain areas. This is not over. They set the stage by calling out NSFOC in Dash's letter yesterday. They want the public against this group so they can screw them. This is how they work. I am very nervous about what will happen next.

So are we looking at yet another lawsuit from Midwest Generation? BB is to expensive unless of course you build a smaller school. or the SD goes ahead with the plan and we reep yet another referendum to finish off the school. What I really want to know and have continually been asking is what have we paid in legal fees? Who is responsible to pay for all the testing etc at Midwest Generation? School will not be ready by 2009 - maybe 2010. That is 4 years after the referendum passed. What has our district done about the so called overcrowding? Nothing!! Housing is down, enrollment is down. Yes, there is a bubble working through the system just like in other districts. I would say look at another alternative - such as a Frontier campus up north to help the crowding at WV. Put portables in place if need be at the middle schools. Again, Neuqua was always meant to be added onto if need be (that is what we were told during the freshman campus referendum), If need be do that as well. The hallway crowding - not sure how to elimate - what do they call it when kids pass at different times - just have 1/2 the school pass and then at the 2nd bell have the other half pass. The lunchroom crowding is easily fixed by letting the students leave campus for lunch. We were told many years ago that classroom space at NV could easily be added but don't know about WV - seems like it's a habitrail of add-ons. How much more can it take?
