Regarding Haman, with a potential cement mixing plant next to it, the pollutants from this could be an issue. Children with asthma could be effected by the dust and particles generated from this.

So if your kids have no chance on having to go to this school, why are in such a tizzy? My kids will go there, at AME, and I am fine with it. I can't speak for Casey, but I can for myself. The problem I have with AME land is that the parcel is SO FAR BEYOND what the voters approved in the 06 referendum. Location- not what the voters approved Boundaries- not what the voters approved Cost- 140+ million is not what the voters approved Enrollment- not even close to the predictions the district put out Regardless of what any ballot said, voters went into the polls trusting the district to keep their word on location and boundaries. They sold the referendum to us as BB with set boundaries. How many people here think if they'd gone into 06 with AME as the site for Metea the referendum would have passed? That's what I'm angry about. ETA: I still have my voting stubb for that election. At the time, I had a very bad feeling in my gut about voting yes but did it anyway. I want a refund. I have my receipt. Excellent post. I think this sums up the sentiment of many in my area. We were sold a bag of goods and now the entire scenario is so the polar opposite of what was promised.. This is not about what school our area is assigned to: I agree with Casey; both NVHS and WVHS are excellent, this IS about trust and about doing what they said they would do....this is about keeping ones word. IMO, this will NOT be forgotten by voters for a very very long time. I hope that the school board realizes the long term impact of doing something so polar opposite to what they TOLD the voters they would do. I know they have lost the trust of this voter.

Silly you for trusting a politician. nowhere on the ref ballot was there a total dollar figure for the school, only that they would issue X dollars of bonds, nowhere did it specify an exact location, using these boundaries, yes it was implied. But in my world, if it is not officially written down on paper, it does not exsist. Don't know where you live, but I am going to assume you would have gone to the new school had it been at BB. I thought we needed to relieve the overcrowding in the entire district, not just your little part of it. Last time I checked, my part was also in the district. BTW I voted yes when it was at BB too, and would have voted yes wherever they put it. I am glad it is North because now my travel times will be less and the 2 exisiting schools will not be as crowded. Sorry no refunds.

Magneto,
Do you think the referendum would have passed in 06 if AME was the site choice?
Simple question.
ETA: You are correct in one thing, I've learned my lesson never to trust these people again.

Does anyone have a copy of the Ref and everyone voted for? Would be interesting to see what it actually says vs. the lies most people are saying about what the Ref "promised"

I voted for the third school in 05 before the boundaries were determined. You don't know how much I wish it would have passed back then.
Calling me selfish might make you feel more justified, but it's not true. But if it makes you feel better, go right ahead. It doesn't bother me anymore.
We can also thank the school board for dividing our district. I'm getting real sick of people calling me selfish simply because of where I live.
ETA: Stop making assumptions about people. Comments such as "Selfish, Elitist" people are really out of line.

Did I name names? I know there are many from your area that fit that bill. I am glad you are not one of them. But, you know many down your way that were exactly that way - I do.

BOO-HOO I do think the school board and admin worked in tandem to release all of this financial and site information at the same time in order to downplay the financial information as the site information is much more emotional. If we are busy fighting and calling each other names, we won't demand anwers on the tough financial questions from those with the answers - the school board and administration. Then the school board can justify their decisions with "well people just didn't want to go to school X or Y and that's not really rational." With Metzger busy dumping gasoline on the fire by calling WV "the stepchild" and "the albatross."

No name names were not named. That takes courage. A large negative generalization was just tossed out there. Typically people do that in the middle of the night. It's cool. Being in a group that typically gets generalized into negative stereotypes I am used to it. In fact, the one just tossed out was a huge improvement. Am I now supposed to pick a team color for the SW side and show up screaming tonight? Maybe we could pick some slogans. On the "Attack in Tamarack" or "Kicken Ashwood "or "Fighting Eagles" Just wondering how this game goes? I was not here last time.

BOO-HOO Boy for being the new little superhero posting here you sure know how to make friends fast. With your immediate bashing and your little "boo hoo" comment you lose a lot of respect immediately. Go back and figure out how to post in a more respectful way - you know how to influence others without making enemies. No it's not selfish-elitist people that did not get their way that are mad, it's a good majority of the population that feel we were sold a bill of goods.

I am just being honest. newbie, you are right I have no idea where you live, but your initial response speaks volumes. Nor am I naming names. I am reminded of the old saying - A few bad apples ruin the bunch. I have overheard enough from people in the WE/TG area to know this is the case. I don't think it's right, but it is what it is.
